OVERVIEW:
The purpose of the position is to support all engineering projects and initiatives coordinated through APLL Innovation and Field engineering team. These engineering projects will be planned and executed within the APLL CLS warehouse network. This intern position works and collaborates closely with operations, IT, vendors, and project management teams. This position will be tasked to support projects aimed at producing higher productivity through the implementation of best practices, new/ upgraded technology and automation, labor management systems, process optimization, and product flow among others engineering initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Development of flexible, scalable, innovative, and cost-effective engineered solutions for warehouse operations such as Receiving, Put Away, Picking, and Loading.
Material Handling Solutions
Order Fulfilment Solutions
Storage System Solutions
Automated Solutions
Integrated solutions with WMS and WCS systems
Process Improvements
Work directly and collaborate with multifunctional areas: IT, Project Management, Finance, Procurement, and Operations.

KEY RESULT AREAS:
Data Collection and Analysis: The intern will gather and analyze operational data from various sources within the warehouse. This will include field observations, measurements, and conversations with team members to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
Process Improvement: Collaborate with the engineering, operations, and business development teams to develop and implement effective engineering solutions aimed at optimizing warehouse processes. This includes streamlining workflows, reducing waste, and enhancing productivity.
Project Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of all project activities, including methodologies, findings, and recommendations. This will ensure clarity and consistency in project execution and provide valuable insights for future reference.
Reporting and Communication: Regularly report progress and findings to the lead logistics engineer and other relevant stakeholders. Participate in team meetings, presenting data-driven insights and contributing to strategic discussions.
Technical Skills Development: Gain hands-on experience with various engineering tools and software used in warehouse operations. Develop proficiency in data analysis, process mapping, and project management techniques.
Adaptability and Learning: Demonstrate the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Site Visits: Occasionally travel to other sites to perform similar functions, gaining exposure to diverse operational settings and broadening their understanding of industry practices.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Industrial and Systems Engineering major or equivalent.
General knowledge of Supply Chain Industry
General knowledge of 3PL industry.
Training in facility planning and design.
Training in building/ simulating operational models.
Training in conducting work measurements / time studies and building labor standards.
Experience completing AutoCAD projects.
MS Excel proficient.
MS Word proficient.
MS Power Point proficient.
MS Visio beginner.
Power BI beginner.
Tableau beginner.
Effective communicator: verbal and written.
Strong technical and analytical skills.

Requirements:
Candidates must be within 250 miles of an APL Logistics facility or office.
The hourly wage for this position is $23.50 - $25.00.
Candidates are eligible for the following benefit:
• one (1) hour of paid sick time for every thirty (30) hrs worked, and up to a maximum of forty-eight (48) hrs each calendar yr.

Work Location Requirement – APL Logistics:
Employees residing within 25 miles of an APL Logistics Hub Office (AZ, FL, MI, NC, OR) are required to follow a designated Hybrid schedule as described below: Fully on-site, or fully remote schedules are determined based on role and business needs.
• Hybrid employees must report to the office 8 days per month, scheduled by their supervisor.
• Warehouse roles are typically fully on-site.
• Candidates outside the 25-mile radius may be considered for fully remote roles, depending on business needs.
Remote work requires full compliance with company policies, including workspace standards, timekeeping, and communication protocols. Commuting costs are not reimbursed. Adherence to this policy is a condition of employment.
