Description

The Department of Pediatrics, Division of General Pediatrics-Pediatric Hospital Medicine, University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine, Tampa is seeking a hospital-based Advanced Practitioner Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant that will act in accordance with Florida Statutes for the Nurse Practitioners Act. Duties include inpatient care and may involve teaching of students and residents. This position will be assigned overnight shifts which  includes weekend coverage. This is a hospital-based position located at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital in Tampa, Florida.



Responsibilities

Responsible for providing direct medical care to patients in a hospital setting. Typical duties include the diagnosis, treatment, operation, or prescription for any human disease, pain, injury, deformity, or other physical or mental condition. May provide clinical teaching experience for students or residents. Responsible for documentation of all orders, procedures, and progress notes on the patient's medical record. 

Participation in Quality Assurance / Improvement projects. Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a State university. Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities.   Responsible for academic advising and related activities.   May represent the university, college/school, or department. 



Qualifications

Master's or Medical degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate field of specialization or equivalent qualifications based on professional experience and otherwise qualified to perform assigned duties. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Instructor.

This position requires graduation from an accredited Advanced Practice Registered Nurse academic degree program and certification as outlined in Florida Statutes 464 and Florida Administrative Code, Chapter 64, or graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant academic degree program and certification as outlined in Florida Statutes 458 and 459 and Florida Administrative Code, Chapter 64.
