As an AWS Software Engineer III - Python/Data Pipeline at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate Investment Banking Payments Technology team, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

Job responsibilities

  • Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
  • Creates secure and high-quality production code and maintains algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems
  • Produce architecture and design artifacts for complex data platforms and pipelines, ensuring design constraints are met throughout software code development
  • Build and maintain end-to-end data pipelines, including ingestion, transformation, quality, and reliability
  • Enables downstream analytics and BI consumers through well designed pipelines
  • Gathers, analyzes, synthesizes, and develops visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systems
  • Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture
  • Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience.
  • Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment, with extensive experience in Python as the primary development language, and database querying languages
  • Hands-on practical experience working in cloud technologies
  • Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
  • Demonstrate production-grade data engineering expertise with databases and data pipelines, including SQL, schema design, and end-to-end data flows
  • Experience building BI solution on top of those pipelines, including dash boarding, as well as  underlying data engineering work required to feed tools like ThoughtSpot

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Familiarity with modern front-end technologies
  • Exposure to AWS cloud technologies and frameworks
  • Strong experience in one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript).
  • Agile best practices, methodologies and Project Management experience
  • Familiarity with modern frameworks and libraries relevant to the team’s tech stack.
