Role Summary
The Azure Administrator supports the dayâtoâday operation, security, and stability of Modern Niagara’s Microsoft Azure cloud environment. They work closely with IT and security teams to ensure Azure services are reliable, secure, and performing as expected. Success in this role means wellâmanaged cloud infrastructure, timely incident response, and consistent alignment with Modern Niagara’s IT and security standards.

Key Impact / Purpose
- Ensure Azure environments remain secure, stable, and wellâmaintained through proactive monitoring and access management.
- Support business continuity by responding to incidents, maintaining backups, and supporting disaster recovery planning.
- Strengthen Modern Niagara’s security posture by enforcing best practices, monitoring risks, and supporting compliance requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provision, configure, and maintain Azure resources including virtual machines, storage, networking, and platform services.
- Administer Azure subscriptions, resource groups, naming standards, tagging, and lifecycle management.
- Manage Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) users, groups, and roleâbased access control (RBAC).
- Administer Privileged Identity Management (PIM), including role eligibility, approvals, and access reviews.
- Support Conditional Access and MFA configurations in coordination with security teams.
- Monitor and respond to security recommendations and alerts using Microsoft Defender for Cloud.
- Configure and manage Azure Key Vault, including secrets, certificates, and access permissions.
- Configure and support Azure networking components such as VNets, subnets, NSGs, VPNs, private endpoints, and ExpressRoute.
- Configure Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and alerts to support operational visibility and incident response.
- Respond to Azureârelated incidents and outages, documenting issues, resolutions, and preventive actions.
- Configure and manage Azure Backup and support disaster recovery planning and testing.
- Provide Tier 2/3 support for Azureârelated issues escalated from the IT Service Desk.
- Support change management activities, including testing, implementation, and rollback planning.
- Maintain technical documentation, diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
Must haves:
- Handsâon experience administering Microsoft Azure environments.
- Strong understanding of cloud security principles and identity and access management.
- Experience with Azure compute, storage, networking, and monitoring services.
- Proficiency with Azure Portal, Azure CLI, and PowerShell.
- Experience supporting hybrid environments (onâpremises and Azure).
Nice to haves:
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate.
- Microsoft Certified: Security Engineer Associate.
- Experience with Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Log Analytics, or Microsoft Sentinel.
ITIL Foundation or equivalent experience.
This is a new position. Expected annual compensation; $70,000 - $80,000.
