About Pivotal Health

Pivotal Health is the leading technology platform that helps healthcare providers get paid fairly in an increasingly complex reimbursement landscape.

Today, many providers face persistent underpayment from health insurance companies, despite delivering high-quality care. While processes like IDR (Independent Dispute Resolution) were designed to promote fairness, they’re often administrative-heavy, time-consuming, and difficult to navigate without the right tools.

Pivotal Health combines software, data, and service into a seamlessly integrated, AI-driven platform that simplifies these complex reimbursement workflows. We help providers efficiently dispute underpaid claims, reduce administrative burden, and recover the reimbursement they’re entitled to; without adding more work to already stretched teams.

Our full-service IDR solution is just the starting point. We’re building solutions that enable providers to operate with clarity, control, and confidence across the reimbursement journey.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Business Analyst I to help turn operational data into clear insights that drive decisions across the business.

This role sits within our Strategy & Analytics team and partners closely with Operations and Client Success to surface the signals behind performance in our IDR (Independent Dispute Resolution) operations. You’ll build dashboards, investigate trends, and help teams understand the drivers behind outcomes like win rates, collections, and cash flow.

This is not a “report factory” role. We’re looking for someone who is curious about how the business works and enjoys connecting data to real operational decisions.

Success in this role means helping the business answer questions like: What’s driving performance? What’s working, what’s not working? Why? What should we focus on next?

This role is a strong fit for someone who enjoys using data to understand how a business actually works, not just building dashboards but helping teams decide what to do next.

What You'll Do

  • Build dashboards that power the business: Create and maintain BI dashboards that help teams track key metrics across IDR operations, win rates, collections, and overall performance.

  • Translate data into clear insights: Analyze operational data to surface trends, anomalies, and root causes that inform decision making.

  • Improve performance visibility: Help develop reporting that gives internal teams and clients clearer visibility into performance and cash flow outcomes.

  • Define and standardize key metrics: Contribute to shared metric definitions and data documentation so teams have a consistent understanding of performance signals.

  • Investigate performance questions: Partner with Operations and Client Success to explore questions about outcomes, identify root causes, and translate findings into actionable insights.

Who You Are

  • 2–5 years of experience in a Business Analyst, Data Analyst, or Analytics role

  • Strong SQL skills and comfort working with large datasets

  • Experience building dashboards with BI tools (Metabase, Power BI, Tableau, or similar)

  • Strong analytical instincts with the ability to identify trends and anomalies

  • Comfortable translating ambiguous business questions into structured analysis

  • Clear communicator who can explain insights to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Curious, proactive, and comfortable operating in a fast-moving startup environment

Extra Credit Experience

  • Experience using Python for analysis or automation

  • Experience with dbt or modern data transformation workflows

  • Experience supporting operations, finance, or revenue teams with performance reporting

  • Experience working in healthcare, healthcare payments, or another regulated environment

Why You’ll Love Working Here

We’re a collaborative, low-ego team on a mission to make healthcare reimbursement fairer for providers. While we primarily hire around our core hubs–Los Angeles and New York–we remain open to exceptional talent outside those regions. Remote and hybrid flexibility varies by role and team, and is outlined in each job description.

If you’re excited by solving complex problems and making a real-world impact, we’d love to hear from you.

Benefits Include:

  • Competitive compensation, including equity

  • Full health, dental, and vision coverage

  • Retirement savings plan through 401(k)

  • Flexible time off

  • Opportunities for company-wide connection and events
