Your role
Reporting to the Billing Supervisor, the Business Analyst – Finance plays a key role in the financial management of projects. You act as a financial partner to Project Managers and contribute actively to the financial performance of engagements.
You are responsible for budget tracking, invoicing, financial analysis of projects, and compliance with internal processes, while also participating in monthly and annual close activities.
Key responsibilities
Project financial management
Work closely with Project Managers and Project Controllers to invoice incurred fees in accordance with contracts and engagement constraints.
Update budgets (requisitions) and ensure required approvals are obtained/monitored.
Open and close projects in accordance with established processes.
Perform high-level analyses of the projects under your responsibility and identify financial risks.
Follow up on hours, change order requests, schedules, reminders, and multidisciplinary follow-up meetings.
Financial analysis and close
Actively participate in the month-end close process and the preparation of financial statements.
Analyze selected balance sheet and income statement accounts.
Prepare periodic and annual analyses of balance sheet and income statement items.
Support office management in monitoring project financial performance (KPIs, work in progress, billability, etc.).
Follow-up and optimization
Follow up on the collection of outstanding invoices.
Investigate with Project Managers to propose solutions and ensure full resolution of situations under your responsibility.
Inform your supervisor of any situation that could compromise the financial management of a project.
Profile sought
College diploma (DEC) in Business Administration or Accounting.
University certificate or additional training (an asset).
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a project management environment.
Experience in an engineering or accounting firm (a strong asset).
Proficiency in French and English, both spoken and written.*
Proficiency with Office 365.
Intermediate-level Excel skills.
Experience with an ERP system.
