If you are looking for hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment, this is an opportunity to work at the intersection of manufacturing, data, and emerging technologies within JDI’s Sawmills Division. As a Business Analyst Student/Intern, you will contribute to improving operational performance, visibility, and decision-making across our sawmill operations.
You will work directly with real manufacturing data and support the development of tools used by operators, supervisors, and leadership. This includes exposure to industrial data systems, analytics platforms, and applied AI in a modern manufacturing environment. You will also work closely with teams across IT, engineering, and mill operations to solve practical, high-impact business challenges.
This position requires full-time on-site presence.
Support projects that turn operational needs into practical data and technology solutions that improve performance and decision-making in a manufacturing environment
Work with real-time and historical manufacturing data (e.g., equipment performance, downtime, process flow) to support operational insights
Assist in building and improving dashboards and visualizations used by operators, supervisors, and leadership
Analyze production data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement
Collaborate with teams across IT, engineering, and mill operations to understand processes and translate requirements into solutions
Apply core business analyst practices such as process mapping, requirements gathering, and documentation to support projects with visible operational impact
Gain exposure to industry-leading technologies used in modern manufacturing, including AVEVA PI, advanced analytics, and emerging AI solutions
Currently enrolled in an accredited university co-op program in one of the following or a related field: Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, Software), Computer Science, Data Analytics, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or Business (Operations, Information Systems, Analytics)
Proficiency with Microsoft tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio)
Experience working with data is required; exposure to data tools or programming is an asset
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze systems, processes, and data
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical teams
Curiosity, initiative, and a strong interest in technology, data, and improving performance in a manufacturing environment
Happy in an environment where you can work independently as well as collaboratively
