Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager of Process & Business Data, the Business Data Analyst will be responsible for collecting, cleaning, analyzing, and interpreting large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform business decisions across various departments and functions of Irving Personal Care. 

Business Data Management 

  • Perform general analytics and statistical modeling to existing data sets in various areas of the IPC business 

  • Define data requirements, collection, processing and cleaning 

  • Analyze, model and create visualization of data insights and content available to business 

  • Examine and identify data patterns and trends to help answer business questions and provide leaders with recommendations on focus areas 

  • Collaborate with various departments to translate data into actionable strategies for improvement and growth 

Data Gathering and Preparation 

  • Extract data from various sources (databases, APIs, CRM systems)  

  • Clean and transform data to ensure accuracy and consistency  

  • Conduct data quality checks and validation  

Data Analysis and Interpretation 

  • Perform statistical analysis to identify trends and patterns  

  • Build predictive models using machine learning techniques 

  • Identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics relevant to business objectives  

Data Visualization 

  • Create dashboards and reports using data visualization tools to communicate insights effectively  

  • Present findings in a clear and concise manner to stakeholders  

Business Continuity  

  • Handle Business Continuity Planning and site operational support 



Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education in Business Intelligence, Business Analytics, Data Science and Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, Software Engineering, or similar field of study.
  • 2-3 years of Data experience
  • Strong statistical knowledge and ability to interpret data  
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to identify root causes 
  • Understanding of business processes and key metrics across different departments 
  • Proficiency in SQL for data manipulation and query writing 
  • Programming languages like Python or R for advanced analysis 
  • Familiarity with data warehousing and cloud computing platforms
  • Experience with Data Visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI)
