Position: Community School Summer - Safety and Security Assistant Internal Applicants Only

 

Location: Park Hall Elementary School (The program will run Mon-Thurs, 9-12:00pm, starting July 6-July 30).

 

Salary: Current SMCPS Safety and Security Assistants will receive their hourly rate of pay OR Current SMCPS employees not Safety and Security Assistants will receive $15.00 per hour

 

Effective: July 2026

Nature of Work: 

This is a temporary position to meet the safety needs of students and staff participating in and supporting the Community School Summer Program. This position supports the program ensuring a safe and healthy learning environment.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Ability to professionally relate to and collaborate with co-workers, students and community members
  • Ability to understand and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to report to work daily and on time
  • Ability to work independently
  • Possess effective written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains a safe and orderly environment for staff, students, and parents
  • Staffs the security desk or program area at designated locations as assigned
  • Greet building visitors and monitor visitor access, sign-in/registration, and identification
  • Reports unusual or suspicious activities to Safety and Security
  • Conducts perimeter checks of all program areas, doors, and windows as assigned
  • Monitors radio communications and assists in response to emergencies
  • Completes a daily safety and security checklist and other forms as required
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Current SMCPS employee
  • Graduation from high school (or GED)
  • Forty-eight (48) semester credits or two (2) years of experience in a security field

Preferred:

  • Current Safety and Security Assistants

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

This is a temporary/ hourly summer assignment.

 

SALARY GRADE RANGE: Current SMCPS Safety and Security Assistants will receive their hourly rate of pay OR Current SMCPS employees not Safety and Security Assistants will receive $15.00 per hour

 

BARGAINING UNIT ELIGIBILITY: Not Eligible
