Job Title: Data Analyst
Location: Edmonton, AB
Duration: 7 Months (Potential Extension up to 24 Months)

Overview
We are seeking a skilled and versatile Data Analyst to support digital transformation and service innovation initiatives within a large public-sector environment. This role is part of a forward-thinking digital delivery division focused on improving user experiences, modernizing services, and leveraging data-driven decision-making.
You will work within cross-functional Agile teams on program reviews and product delivery initiatives, contributing to the design and implementation of efficient, scalable, and user-centered digital solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Data Engineering
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines across on-premises and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).
- Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and availability for analytical and operational use.
- Optimize and enhance ETL processes and workflows (SSIS, ADF).
- Implement data governance, security, and best practices.
- Manage and support data storage solutions such as data lakes and data warehouses.
- Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to deliver data solutions.
Data Analytics
- Perform exploratory data analysis to uncover trends, patterns, and insights.
- Develop dashboards and reports using tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Python.
- Conduct statistical analysis to support business strategies and decisions.
- Communicate insights and recommendations clearly to stakeholders.
- Build and maintain data models and service performance metrics.
- Support Agile teams by delivering iterative analytics solutions and promoting data literacy.
Required Qualifications (Must Have)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.

5+ years of experience as a Data Analyst and/or Data Engineer.

3+ years of experience in:
- Designing dimensional data models (star/snowflake schemas)
- Developing dashboards and visualizations (Power BI, DAX, Tableau, Python)
- Ensuring data quality, governance, and security
- Strong experience working with large, complex datasets from on-prem and cloud environments.
- Experience with data migration across cloud and database platforms.
- Hands-on experience with:
- SSIS, Azure Data Factory (ADF), APIs
- SQL and NoSQL databases
- Familiarity with:
- Git, CI/CD pipelines, and collaborative workflows
- Containerization (Docker/Kubernetes)
- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM, CloudFormation)
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
- Experience with advanced analytics (predictive modeling, data mining).
- Experience working in large, complex enterprise environments.
- Exposure to Azure Databricks.
- Knowledge of programming/scripting languages (object-oriented or functional).
- Experience with AI/ML or NLP.
