Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC) is looking for a fulltime Data Analyst to join our Insights & Analytics team in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

The Vision

At WCLC, we are “Leading with Data.” We are transforming our culture, tools, and processes to ensure every decision we make is backed by fact-based insights. As we migrate our ecosystem toward Snowflake and Power BI, we need a versatile, driven Data Analyst to help bridge the gap between complex raw data and strategic business action.

The Role

Reporting to the Manager, Insights & Analytics, you will be a key contributor to our emerging data practice. You won’t just run reports; you will design the logic that powers our business. You will work closely with the Strategy & Planning team to harness our enterprise data and provide actionable recommendations that impact lottery games like LOTTO 6/49, SPORT SELECT and dozens of instant scratch & win tickets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Dashboards & Visualization: Design, build, and maintain high-performance, visually intuitive dashboards in Power BI to support operational teams and executive leadership.
  • Data Modeling: Apply Dimensional Modeling techniques (Star Schema) to transform raw data into optimized reporting layers within our Snowflake Data Warehouse.
  • Advanced Analysis: Utilize SQL to query large datasets, identifying trends, anomalies, and opportunities for growth across our retail and digital channels.
  • Data Governance & Quality: Act as a steward of our data. Implement quality checks and adhere to governance policies.
  • Strategic Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to translate "business questions" into "technical requirements," delivering insights that drive revenue and player engagement.
  • Continuous Improvement: Help modernize our legacy processes by automating manual reporting and staying ahead of cloud analytics trends.

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience:

  • Education: University Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Data Analytics, or a related field.
  • Visualization: Minimum 2+ years of hands-on experience with Power BI, including proficiency in DAX and Power Query.
  • Data Warehousing: Proven experience working within a cloud data warehouse environment (specifically Snowflake is highly preferred).
  • SQL Mastery: Expert-level SQL skills for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.

Technical Skills & Competencies:

  • Modeling: Strong understanding of Dimensional Data Modeling and relational database concepts.
  • Communication: Exceptional ability to "storytell" with data—translating complex technical findings into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Problem Solving: A self-starter mindset with a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • The "Plus" List: Proficiency in Python or R for statistical modeling.
