Description

Lead the Way to Intelligent Banking with Us!

You might not think about what happens behind the scenes when you check your bank balance or deposit a check from your phone, but we do. Every day.

Kinective empowers banks and credit unions to move beyond keeping up with technology to shaping the future of banking. Our platform seamlessly connects the right tools, delivers real-time data, and drives smarter operations for more than 4,000 financial institutions nationwide. We are a fast-growing team built on individual ownership, company-wide collaboration, and setting industry-leading standards. Here, new ideas are encouraged, candid feedback is welcomed, and your growth truly matters as much as the company’s. At Kinective, we are leading the way to intelligent banking together and enjoying the journey along the way.

Why This Role Matters

The Data Intelligence product line helps financial institutions unify data, activate it across the organization, and use AI to drive better decisions and productivity.

As a DevOps Engineering Intern, you’ll help keep this platform reliable and scalable by supporting cloud infrastructure work, automation, CI/CD improvements, and operational readiness. This internship is designed for real contribution, mentorship, and measurable impact—not “practice projects. Instead, you’ll work directly with experienced product team members, engineers, designers, QA analysts, and other DevOps professionals on meaningful projects that ship to production.

This internship is ideal for students exploring early-career paths in product development engineering—and looking to graduate with practical experience, stronger technical and collaboration skills, and a clearer sense of where they want to grow next.

Requirements

Kinective’s internship program spans 12 weeks, beginning June 1, 2025 and concluding August 21, 2025.

This is a paid position at $20/hour.

Candidates must reside within commuting distance of our office in Golden, CO.

What you’ll own

Cloud & Platform Enablement

  • Support cloud infrastructure and operational work that improves reliability, scalability, and delivery consistency for the Data Intelligence platform.
  • Assist with environment setup, deployment support, and platform operations alongside engineers.

Automation & Infrastructure as Code

  • Build automation that reduces manual effort and increases repeatability (scripts, workflow improvements, tooling).
  • Contribute to Infrastructure as Code patterns and configuration automation (Terraform/Ansible exposure helpful).

CI/CD & Release Safety

  • Help maintain and improve CI/CD workflows (build/test/release) to reduce pipeline friction and improve deployment reliability.
  • Add lightweight “release safety” improvements where appropriate (e.g., pre-deploy checks, automated validations, safer rollout patterns).
  • Contribute documentation/runbooks so releases are repeatable and easier to support.

Observability & Operational Readiness

  • Support monitoring/logging improvements (dashboards, alerts, basic observability signals) and assist with troubleshooting using logs/metrics.
  • Improve operational clarity through practical runbooks and process documentation that help teams respond consistently.

How We’ll Measure Success

  • You deliver at least one improvement that measurably reduces manual work or increases reliability (automation, tooling, IaC, or workflow improvement).
  • You improve delivery confidence through a CI/CD enhancement (reduced failures, clearer steps, faster feedback, or safer releases).
  • You strengthen operational readiness with better observability and/or clearer documentation (dashboards, alerts, runbooks).
  • You show strong DevOps fundamentals by thinking in outcomes tied to delivery and stability (deployment speed, failure reduction, recovery speed).

Success here isn’t about checking boxes – it’s about propelling Kinective’s mission to lead the way to intelligent banking. You must bring excellence to your craft, balance resourcefulness with respect, share and celebrate unique expertise and diverse perspectives, and continuously raise the bar as we innovate and grow.

Necessary Qualifications & Competencies

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge (coursework/projects are fine) in some of the following:
    • Linux fundamentals and scripting (Bash/Shell or similar)
    • Git/version control fundamentals
    • CI/CD concepts or tools (any exposure is fine)
    • Containers (Docker) and basic orchestration awareness (Kubernetes exposure is a plus)
    • Infrastructure as Code concepts (Terraform/Ansible exposure is a plus)
    • Cloud fundamentals (AWS/Azure/GCP exposure is a plus)
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaborative working style.

Nice to Haves

  • Basic networking concepts (HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, TLS/SSL) and how services communicate in production environments.
  • Exposure to monitoring/observability tools (metrics/logs dashboards) through coursework or projects.
