POSITION SUMMARY:

The Event Concierge Internship is a 12-15 week summer program offered to juniors who are interested in a rewarding hospitality career. The individual selected for this opportunity will maintain high-touch, on-the-floor guest support with Nemacolin's Conference Services Team throughout this supervised, hands-on learning experience.

Program Timeline:

  • Weeks 1-3: Orientation, Shadowing, & Reverse Shadowing
    • Foundation, observation, and supervised ownership
  • Weeks 4-11: On-the-Floor Support
    • Consistent execution with increasing independence
  • Final Weeks (Last 2 Weeks): Capstone Project & Wrap-Up
    • Analysis, reflection, and value-add

  • Weeks 1-3: Foundation
  • Weeks 4-6: Core Execution
  • Weeks 7-9: Advanced Support
  • Weeks 10-13 (if applicable): Increased Independence
  • Final Weeks: Capstone Skills

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintain consistent, high-quality guest support for group and resort programs.

  • Support Conference Services during peak periods and complex events.

  • Support guest requests and group movements.
  • Draft and assist with client communications.
  • Coordinate with departments under direct supervision.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for meeting planners, ensuring all event details are communicated clearly and accurately to operational departments.

  • Work closely with Convention Services and Catering Managers to ensure every event meets the highest standards and aligns with client expectations.

  • Manage the day-to-day coordination of hotel events, overseeing event logistics and ensuring client needs are met from start to finish.

  • Proactively resolve any issues that arise during events, ensuring a seamless experience for all attendees.

  • Maintain thorough knowledge of hotel event spaces and group dynamics to provide expert guidance and support throughout the planning process.

  • Participate in Pre-Convention Meetings, Banquet Event Order Meetings, and weekly Group Resume meetings to ensure all team members are aligned and prepared for upcoming events.

  • Handle special projects assigned by the department leaders, contributing to the overall success of the events team.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Must be a junior currently enrolled in a college or university. Preference given to those studying hospitality with an interest in event coordination.
  • At least one year of experience in a customer-facing role, demonstrating the ability to deliver exceptional service.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to professionally interact with guests, colleagues, and management.

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • A calm and problem-solving mindset when working under pressure, with a focus on addressing client needs efficiently.

  • Detail-oriented, ensuring all event logistics are managed and executed according to plan.

  • Flexibility to work varied schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on the needs of the events.

  • Ability to lift, move, and place items up to 30 pounds, and stand or walk for extended periods during shifts.
