The City of Geneva has an exciting opportunity for an intern to join our Public Works Fleet Division this summer. This position provides hands-on experience for students currently enrolled in automotive courses. We offer flexible scheduling between the hours of 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday - Friday and anticipate this position will work an average of 20 hours per week.

Performs miscellaneous tasks in the Fleet Division. Tasks include: parts ordering and pick up, vehicle drop off and pick up, routine vehicle maintenance checks including oil changes, fuel system inspections, record keeping, and shop maintenance. Total work hours not to exceed more than 20 hours per week.
Under the general supervision of the Fleet Supervisor and Fleet Maintenance Technicians, the intern will participate in the following:
Education and Experience: Enrolled in an automotive technical institute. Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

Knowledge of:
Vehicle and equipment maintenance, problem diagnosis and repair as acquired in advanced training and through hands-on experience.
Skill in: Using diagnostic tools and equipment, and welding
