Stantec is a global engineering consulting firm dedicated to creating sustainable and innovative solutions with a focus on people, value, team spirit, and excellence. We are looking for Civil or Geological Engineering students to join our geotechnical engineering team based in Burnaby, BC for an 8-month period from May to December 2025. 

The successful candidate will work closely with a local team of 35 geotechnical staff in Burnaby, supported by a wider, regional team of over 200 geotechnical staff. Our team supports all stages of project delivery with technical expertise in seismicity, transportation and infrastructure, dams, trenchless technologies, rock engineering, and geohazards and geomorphology. Join a diverse group of engineers, geoscientists, project managers, and technicians, and help shape the future of the communities where we live, work, and play. 

Students will be introduced to a variety of consulting activities, including:

  • Laboratory Testing: conduct detailed soil classification geotechnical laboratory testing to characterize soil samples collected from geotechnical site investigations.
  • Field Work: geotechnical fieldwork including but not limited to; subgrade reviews, vibration monitoring and construction quality control / quality assurance.
  • Project Coordination: in conjunction with Stantec field staff, office staff, the client and other parties such as regulators and suppliers.
  • Data Management: collection and compilation of field and laboratory data to support analyses and design
  • Reporting: preparation of reports and memoranda detailing the work carried out, results, conclusions and recommendations.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other geotechnical team members to support larger Stantec teams, including buildings, transportation, power, water, environmental, archaeology, and mining.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Valid Canadian driver’s license with access to a vehicle.  
  • Residing in British Columbia, or willing to relocate. 
  • Registered in an accredited, post-secondary institute. Undergraduates with at least one year in a Civil or Geological Engineering Undergraduate Degree/Diploma program are encouraged to apply. 

Education and Experience

​​Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Some time will be spent in a typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.
