POSITION SUMMARY

The Grounds Technician is a champion of top-notch customer service for our community grounds, as well as the front line in customer care by exceeding expectations in a positive and professional manner. This position is Monday - Friday, regularly scheduled 40 hours per week.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Property & Grounds Maintenance Responsibilities

  • Perform daily trash pickup throughout the property, with additional clean-up as needed, especially on mowing and bulk trash days
  • Clean curbs, sidewalks, and sweep parking lots
  • Perform snow removal and apply salt to sidewalks and ADA parking spaces as required
  • Spray weeds and remove unwanted vegetation from parking lots, carports, sidewalks, and landscaped areas
  • Pull weeds, deadhead plants, and water flowers as needed
  • Complete seasonal landscaping tasks, including spring and fall bed clean-up
  • Trim shrubs and maintain landscaped areas as needed
  • Apply and refresh mulch throughout the property
  • Maintain rain gardens and decorative flowerpots
  • Remove pet waste as necessary

Facility & Exterior Maintenance

  • Clean and maintain dumpster corrals, including minor repairs and area clean-up
  • Conduct routine light checks for both interior and exterior property lighting
  • Perform minor exterior repairs, including ensuring downspouts are clear and functioning, splash guards are properly installed, and lower siding is in good condition
  • Report missing or damaged shingles, fascia, edging, or other exterior components to the Service Supervisor
  • Report irrigation issues or areas not functioning properly to the Service Supervisor

Cleaning & Common Area Upkeep

  • Routinely wipe down frequently touched surfaces such as door handles, elevator buttons, and other high-contact points
  • Clean common areas and hallways, including fixtures, fans, and similar surfaces, on a scheduled basis (bi-annually, annually, or as needed)
  • Clean dryer vents and perform related preventive maintenance
  • Complete minor painting and touch-up work, including doors, trim, posts, and similar areas

  

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Gillespie Group is an in-person workplace. 
  • We value in-person collaboration and live by the motto “work hard – play hard.” 
  • All team members are expected to work onsite Monday through Friday during standard business hours, unless otherwise specified by their role or designated shift.
  • Physical Requirements: Prolonged physical activity that requires the ability to exert up to 20 lbs of force consistently and 50 lbs of frequently, the ability to move or lift up to 100 lbs occasionally. Ability to frequently operate standard tools, travel by car between properties and the ability to climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.  
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent and basic knowledge of grounds/landscape and maintenance preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Ability to receive and follow detailed instructions, and ensure detailed instructions are followed
  • Ability to display effective communication, customer service, and organizational skills
  • Gillespie Group requires a background and drug screen as a condition of employment and passing of required physical testing.
  • A valid driving license, vehicle, and current automobile insurance are required.
  • The position requires individuals to furnish their own vehicle to fulfill all the job’s functions.
