What you will do
As an Intern – Tech School, you will support Fire & Life Safety Inspectors with routine inspections, testing, service, and preventative maintenance of fire alarm, sprinkler, and suppression systems. This role is designed for individuals enrolled in or recently graduated from a technical school or trade program and provides hands-on experience working alongside experienced technicians in real customer environments.
How you will do it
Assist with testing and inspection of fire alarm and life safety systems for new and existing customers
Learn and follow established inspection and testing procedures under direct supervision
Accurately document work performed using company-provided tools and systems
Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and training requirements
Follow verbal and written instructions from lead technicians and supervisors
Safely carry and move tools and equipment weighing up to 70 lbs
Perform work in a variety of physical positions, including climbing ladders, scaffolding, and using lift equipment
Support work on alternative shifts or weekends as needed to meet customer requirements
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times
What we look for
Required Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a technical school program related to electrical, fire protection, or life safety systems
Ability and willingness to perform physical labor in field environments
Strong attention to detail and eagerness to learn new skills
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and smartphone applications
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to follow instructions and work well as part of a team
High School Diploma or equivalent
Valid Driver’s License
Commitment to working safely and professionally
Preferred Qualifications
Prior hands-on exposure to electrical, fire alarm, or life safety systems through coursework, labs, or internships
Familiarity with basic hand tools and testing equipment
Interest in pursuing NICET certification or a long-term career in Fire & Life Safety
