Position Summary

The IT Infrastructure Intern will support the IT Infrastructure team in maintaining, monitoring, and improving enterprise network, server, and storage environments. This internship provides hands-on experience with core infrastructure technologies while working alongside experienced engineers in a production environment.

Pay Range: $22.50 - $28.50

The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job-related reasons.

What You’ll Be Doing

Network Support

  • Assist with monitoring and troubleshooting LAN, WAN, and Wi-Fi connectivity issues
  • Support network devices including switches, routers, firewalls, and access points
  • Help document network diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures
  • Assist with patching, firmware upgrades, and basic network changes under supervision
  • Support VPN connectivity and basic network security tasks

Server Support

  • Assist in managing physical and virtual servers (Windows and/or Linux)
  • Support virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, or cloud-based VMs)
  • Help with server health monitoring, patching, and backup verification
  • Assist with user access requests, Active Directory tasks, and basic system administration
  • Participate in server builds, decommissioning, and lifecycle documentation

Storage & Backup Support

  • Assist with enterprise storage systems (SAN, NAS, or cloud storage)
  • Support backup and recovery operations, including monitoring backup jobs
  • Help track storage capacity, usage, and performance metrics
  • Assist in testing data restores and documenting backup procedures

Cybersecurity Support

  • Assist in daily cybersecurity monitoring and alert follow-up
  • Maintain and update IT asset inventory for security compliance
  • Participate in SOC (Security Operations Center) meetings and provide support as needed
  • Follow up on security awareness training and ensure completion tracking
  • Support basic security operations tasks such as account monitoring, endpoint checks, and compliance adherence

General IT & Operations

  • Support incident and request management through the IT ticketing system
  • Assist with infrastructure documentation and asset tracking
  • Participate in change management, maintenance windows, and project work
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity and cloud teams as needed
  • Follow IT policies, security standards, and compliance requirements

Required

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs)
  • Familiarity with Windows Server, Linux, or virtualization fundamentals
  • Strong interest in IT infrastructure, networking, and systems engineering
  • Ability to learn quickly and follow technical procedures
  • Strong communication and documentation skills

Preferred

  • Exposure to VMware, Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud
  • Basic scripting knowledge (PowerShell, Bash, or Python)
  • Familiarity with storage concepts (RAID, snapshots, backups)
  • Understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals
  • Prior internship, lab, or homelab experience
