What We Offer
The City and County of Denver offers competitive pay commensurate with education and experience. New hires are typically brought into the organization between $110,000.00 - $160,000.00. We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which include but are not limited to:

Location & Schedule
The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. Employees work where needed, at a job site several days a week and off-site as needed. In this position you can expect to be in person up to 3 days a week at Denver International Airport. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days.

DEN is looking for an IT Project Manager Specialist to join our Business Technologies (BT) team. The IT Project Manager Specialist will lead multiple of the most complex, critical and visible projects, primarily focused on hardware, network, datacenter and other infrastructure implementations. The PM will act as a liaison between BT and airport business divisions and requires strong communication and management skills to control the interdependence and minimize operational risk to DEN. The IT PM Specialist will provide the level of management required to successfully implement these mission critical upgrades, while maintaining an acceptable level of risk to the overall implementation of the efforts.
Specifically, as the IT Project Manager Specialist you will:
Defines and initiates project objectives, manages budget, scope and schedule of multiple projects
Develops, implements, and monitors project budgets that are complex in nature; allocates shared resources among projects within the program; prepares reports detailing the status of the project budget and compliance with any requirements as specified by funding sources
Provides status updates and reports as required to project sponsors and stakeholders
Develops, negotiates, implements and monitors contracts, ensuring conformance to approved plans and contract specifications; acts as a liaison to the City Attorney’s Office, follows prospective contracts throughout the review process, and coordinates actions for breach of contract situations
Facilitate planning meetings with various technical and client teams to gather the necessary input to build detailed schedules
Develops and implements plans to ensure compliance with information technology industry standards, internal architecture and infrastructure protocols, and established business practices; conducts risk and cost/benefit analyses, manages risk associated with projects, and devises strategies to deal with unexpected crises and unresolved risks
Ensures the quality of project deliverables and obtains user acceptance of completed products or services; performs project closure activities including release of contract and permanent staff from the project, and completing lessons learned and project implementation review of best practices
Assists with the development and implementation of project management processes and methodologies to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, adhere to high quality standards and meet customer expectations

Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience, skills, and characteristics:
Experience supporting data management, storage, analytics, and business intelligence, or infrastructure-related projects
Broad understanding of networking, compute and storage, telephony, application development, and desktop/hardware configurations
Extensive experience managing third-party professional services
Proven ability to lead vendor project managers and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)
Project Management Professional (PMP) and/or Agile certifications preferred
Required Minimum Qualifications
Education requirement: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Information Systems, Computer Science or a related field.
Experience Requirement: Four (4) years of experience managing medium-to-large-sized information technology projects to include experience at the type and level of the IT Project Manager II.
Education/Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education.
Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
