Overview:
Securian Financial is seeking a Java Developer to join our Financial Product Ecosystem (FPE) team. In this role, you’ll help design, enhance, and support enterprise financial systems that power critical reporting and operations across the organization.
You will work closely with product owners, architects, and finance stakeholders to deliver scalable technology solutions while building expertise in SAP financial platforms. This role is ideal for someone with a software development background who has experience in or is interested in expanding into SAP and enterprise financial systems.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Build & Enhance Financial Systems
Design and implement enhancements within SAP financial platforms and related enterprise systems.
Develop integrations and system functionality using modern programming languages and APIs.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues across the financial systems ecosystem.
Collaborate with Product & Business Teams
Partner with Product Owners, architects, and business stakeholders to define requirements and deliver solutions in an agile environment.
Translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.
Manage incoming projects and enhancements while ensuring alignment with business priorities.
Support System Operations
Support batch processing and automated workflows that power financial operations.
Participate in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and system improvements.
Take part in a quarterly on-call rotation (approximately 2–3 weeks per quarter) supporting overnight batch processes, with strong team collaboration and support.
Drive Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities to improve system performance, reliability, and user experience.
Contribute to documentation, testing, and operational best practices.
Stay current on emerging technologies and bring new ideas to the team.

Scheduling & Reporting: Control-M, SAP Fiori
Cloud & Platforms: AWS
Experience with some of these technologies is helpful, but we value strong engineering fundamentals and a willingness to learn.
Qualifications:
Experience supporting or developing enterprise applications or financial systems (SAP experience preferred but not required).
Hands-on experience with software development using languages such as Java, Python, or similar.
Experience working with system integrations, APIs, or web services.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
Experience working in collaborative development environments.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred
Experience working with SAP technologies such as ABAP or FPSL.
Familiarity with AWS, SAP HANA, or enterprise integration tools.
Experience with batch scheduling tools such as Control-M.
Understanding of financial systems, accounting processes, or operational reporting workflows.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Finance, Business, or a related field.

#LI-Hybrid **This position will have a hybrid working arrangement, working in-office for a minimum of 3 days a week.**

If you’re in a commutable distance (90 minutes) you’ll join us 3 days each week in our offices to collaborate and build relationships.
