Junior Software Developer

An SAP BTP (Business Technology Platform) Developer is a specialist responsible for building, integrating, and extending business applications within SAP’s unified cloud environment. As of 2026, this role is critical for organizations implementing "Clean Core" strategies, which involve moving custom code away from the central ERP (S/4HANA) and into the cloud to ensure easier upgrades. 

Core Responsibilities

• Application Development: Building cloud-native applications using pro-code frameworks like CAP (Cloud Application Programming Model) or RAP (ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model).
• Integration: Connecting SAP systems with third-party applications and data sources using the SAP Integration Suite.
• Extensibility: Creating "side-by-side" extensions for SAP S/4HANA to add custom functionality without modifying the core system.
• Data & AI: Leveraging SAP HANA Cloud for data persistence and Joule (SAP’s AI copilot) for AI-driven development and business process automation. 

Essential Tools & Runtimes 

• Development Environments:
  • SAP Business Application Studio: The primary web-based IDE for SAP-centric development.
  • SAP Build Code: An AI-powered evolution of the studio designed for rapid CAP and SAPUI5 development.
• Runtimes:
  • Cloud Foundry: For industry-standard polyglot development (Java, Node.js, Python).
  • Kyma: A Kubernetes-based runtime for cloud-native microservices and serverless functions.
  • ABAP Environment: Often called "Steampunk," used for cloud-ready ABAP development. 

Skill Requirements

• 3+ years experience in similar role 
• Programming Languages: Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, or ABAP Cloud.
• Frameworks: Mastery of SAPUI5/Fiori for frontend and CAP for backend service development.
• Cloud Concepts: Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps, and multi-tenant SaaS architecture.
