The Position

The Learning and Engagement Intern will assist with planning and production of NRM’s summer education programs for visitors of all ages. Programs include artmaking workshops, public gallery tours, lectures and talks, programs for families and community events. Working closely with all three members of the Learning and Engagement team, the intern will be introduced to a wide range of audience-specific programs and will learn how art museums develop and produce educational content and programming. 

Requirements

Projects and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with program planning and logistics. 
  • Help with the management and production of educational programs and events, including some weekend and night-time programs.
  • Provide assistance to NRM educators who will be leading tours and programs.
  • Compile research and interpretive materials for upcoming digital and in-person programs.
  • Provide administrative support for outdoor and campus-wide programs and events.
  • Assist with walking tours of the campus and of Main Street Stockbridge where Norman Rockwell once lived and worked. 
  • Help to coordinate programming with NRM community partners.
  • Build a digital program archive. 

Qualifications

Applicants must be currently enrolled in a college or university and show demonstrated interest in art history, museum education, history, and/or arts education. Priority will be given to rising juniors and seniors, but recent grads will also be considered. 

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills and an interest in working with different audiences from young kids to adults.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Excellent research, computer, and communication skills.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn and participate in a variety of tasks.

Salary Description
