The Managed Services Intern will support a data-center–based Managed Service Provider (MSP) that delivers Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) solutions to external clients. This role provides hands-on exposure to enterprise infrastructure, data center operations, and managed services in a security-focused environment. The intern will work alongside experienced engineers and operations staff to assist with monitoring, documentation, client support activities, and day-to-day infrastructure operations.
Responsibilities:
- Documentation of client hardware inventory
- Review / Update of client runbooks
- Review and update client datacenter rack diagrams
- Maintain spare parts inventory
- Monitoring client data center infrastructure, including servers, storage, and virtualization platforms
- Support routine operational tasks such as system health checks, backup verification, and capacity reporting
- Participate in incident response activities, assisting senior staff with troubleshooting and ticket updates
- Assist with provisioning and de-provisioning of infrastructure resources under direct supervision
- Collaborate with internal teams to gather information for client reports and status updates
- Perform other technical or administrative tasks as assigned to support managed services operations
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Basic understanding of computer systems, networking concepts, and operating systems (Windows and/or Linux)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail and willingness to follow documented procedures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, capable of managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, or similar)
- Basic knowledge of cloud or IaaS concepts
- Exposure to data center environments, IT support, or managed services
- Interest in infrastructure, systems administration, or cloud engineering careers
