GENERAL NATURE OF WORK
The purpose of this classification is to educate and provide valuable experience to students who have a passion for public service, and would like to pursue a career in events, local government, or recreation.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification.
· Assist in the pre-event activities such as prep and set up.
· Monitor and assist with tear down and clean up after events.
· Attend meetings to ensure full understanding of the scope of each event.
· Gather and purchase supplies.
· Communicate with supervisor, City employees, law enforcement, vendors, entertainers, the public, outside agencies, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, give direction and resolve problems.
· Understand the overall vision and mission of the city, including the brand, service to the citizens/general public, and all other aspects of service.
· Engage with citizens or other city employees and provides service.
· Provide suggestions to Event Team for improving functionality of the events.
· Accept designated, city-focus projects to research, propose ideas and solutions, and present final project during the internship.
· Ability to work in a high stress, face paced environment and pivot when needed.
· Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· Currently in college, either undergraduate or graduate programs, working towards a Bachelorâs Degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Recreation, or related field
· Interested in events, hospitality, parks and/or recreation
· Passion for event management and the public sector
· Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driverâs license.

Physical Requirements: Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (10-15 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods walking or standing. Tasks may involve extended periods working outside.
Work Environment: Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
