This is a part-time position with a maximum of 1,560 hours per year and is not eligible for paid holidays, leave, or benefits.

Job Description

This position is responsible for collecting water and wastewater samples from the water and wastewater plants in Gwinnett County. The role includes assisting with sample transportation, preparation, and processing Monday to Friday, 5am to 9am. This position requires the ability to operate a county vehicle and use hand-help equipment to perform daily tasks.


$20.36 per hour, 15-20 hours per week with at least one year commitment, not to exceed 1,560 hours per year.

Essential Duties
  • Work with other teams within Water Resources to perform required tasks
  • Assist with sample transportation, preparation and processing
  • Assist with water quality analyses
  • Assist with data analysis and reports
  • Other duties as assigned
Grade
The grade for this position is 97.

Hourly rate
$20.36 per hour, 15-20 hours per week with at least one year commitment, not to exceed 1,560 hours per year.
 
Minimum Qualifications
  • Major in Biology, Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Physics, or other related major
  • Strict Schedule 5 AM to 9 AM Monday to Friday
  • Willingness to work occasional extended hours (after 4:00PM and weekends) if necessary
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and EXCEL
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to meet requirements to operate a Gwinnett County vehicle

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong work or educational background and understanding of water quality analysis 
  • Good laboratory technique and safety awareness
  • Well organized, detail oriented and dependable
  • Interested in learning new lab techniques
  • Can represent Gwinnett County DWR with professionalism and courtesy

Physical Requirements

  • Moderate physical activity including stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling and the ability to lift 50 pounds.
