SYSTRA Canada is an engineering and consulting firm whose primary focus is to offer transportation solutions, whether for passengers or goods: feasibility studies of building a new railway line, increasing the capacity of the existing infrastructure, privatization of a railway.

 

Context

The ALTO project is a major infrastructure initiative in Canadian history, aimed at developing over 1,000 km of new passenger rail service between major urban centers, including Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Quebec City.

Missions/Main Duties

  • Support the Project Management Office (PMO) in its data management tasks, including data transformation, structuring, and analysis.
  • Ensure the consistency, integrity, and standardization of project data to meet the PMO’s needs.
  • Automate processes and promote best practices in data management using tools such as Power Query and Power Automate.
  • Develop financial analyses and key performance indicators (KPIs) for PMO leadership and project teams.
  • Design analytical visualizations (metadata) using Power BI to assess the current status, target objectives, and progress of data assets.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify data needs and propose appropriate solutions.
    Ensure the documentation and traceability of processes and data flows to facilitate auditing and maintenance.
  • Optimize existing tools (Excel, SharePoint, etc.) to improve team efficiency and data quality.
  • Ensure data security and compliance with internal policies and applicable regulations.

Profile/Skills

Education: Bachelor’s degree in data science, engineering, computer science, statistics, or a related field.
Years of experience: 2 to 3 years of experience in a similar role.
Technical skills:

  • Excellent proficiency in Excel: features, advanced formulas, and analysis.
  • Skills in data management, structuring, and ensuring data reliability.
  • Knowledge of databases and workflows.
  • Proficiency in Power Query and Power Automate.
  • Experience producing reports for the Project Management Office (PMO) and Project Management.
  • Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing, in French and English*
