About the Role: 

Help Keep the Airport Built for Takeoff

As the Architectural Project Manager, you’ll be part of the team that keeps the airport’s buildings and systems flight-ready. You’ll lead and support complex architectural and engineering efforts that assess, plan, and deliver capital investments, renovations, and sustainment projects across the airport campus. From terminals and utility infrastructure to the systems that power them, your work ensures our facilities remain safe, efficient, and ready to support nonstop operations.

You’ll manage design studies, building condition assessments, and planning efforts that guide long-term capital investments and near-term repairs—helping chart the course from concept to construction. Along the way, you’ll recommend facility improvements, assist with cost estimates and budget planning, and collaborate on strategic and tactical initiatives that keep campus buildings performing at their best.

Acting as a key coordinator on the ground, you’ll collaborate with consultants and contractors through design and construction, ensuring projects stay aligned with scope, schedule, and budget. If you enjoy blending technical expertise with problem-solving in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment, this role gives you a seat in the cockpit of airport building and building systems development.

 

Compensation:

Maximum – Based on experience

Minimum - $82,662.23

 

About The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experienced – You have five (5) years of experience in project management including design document reviews, cost estimating, specification reviews and construction administration, or 10 years of field experience specific to the architectural discipline.
  • Collaborative – You can work collaboratively and effectively with diverse groups and individuals internally and externally. You can convey complex and technical details to individuals with varying degrees of technical knowledge.
  • Adaptable – You can manage multiple moderately-complex projects simultaneously and prioritize work between multiple projects and meet deadlines.
    Innovative – You can conduct research in emerging technologies, products, trends, and standards to make recommendations for improvements for alternative materials, equipment, or methods/processes.
  • Knowledgeable – You can develop system models for calculation and analysis or total cost of ownership comparison of options. You can develop original concepts for internal design projects, considering compliance with standards, regulations, and alignment with discipline-specific vision.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Coordinate and manage the work of professional consultants with emphasis on facility architecture and engineering components and utility systems related to building systems design and construction of mid -sized commercial type construction projects.
  • Coordinate the planning, development, review, and construction of assigned projects.
  • Evaluate technical concepts and details related to general architecture, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing project management, new technologies and systems, such as energy management systems, and technologies to improve airport operational efficiency and reduce energy consumption and costs.
  • Performs additional relate work as required. 

 

What You Need:

Education:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, or closely related field OR equivalent related work experience

Experience:

Required:

  • 5 years of project management experience including design document reviews, cost estimating, specification reviews and construction administration, or 10 years of field experience specific to the architectural discipline.

Preferred:

  • 10 or more years of experience in project management.
  • 5 years of building technical experience
  • Facilities related project management including experience with building systems (MEP, Low voltage electrical, construction and building trades general knowledge)
  • Experience in all aspects of design and construction, renovation, and repairs to mid-sized commercial construction projects, preferably at airports or intermodal transportation hubs.
  • Experience in working with multi-building institutions or campus environments.

Licenses or Certifications:

Preferred:

  • NC-licensed Professional Architect (AIA)

 

Typical Work Hours: 

  • 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday

Location:

  • On-site RDU Airport Campus
