POSITION SUMMARY

The Quality Intern will support daily quality assurance activities in an injection‑mold plastics manufacturing environment. This entry‑level role provides hands‑on experience with inspection processes, quality systems, documentation control, and continuous improvement initiatives. The intern will work closely with the Quality Manager and Quality Technicians to learn industry standards and help maintain product quality and compliance.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Inspection & Testing

- Perform basic dimensional inspections using calipers, micrometers, gages, and other standard measurement tools.

- Assist with first article inspections, in‑process checks, and final inspections of molded components.

- Support the collection and recording of quality data for production runs.


Quality Documentation & Reporting

- Maintain accurate inspection records, logs, and test results.

- Help prepare quality reports, nonconformance documentation, and corrective action summaries as assigned.

- Update work instructions, forms, and standard operating procedures under direction of the Quality Manager.


Quality Systems Support

- Assist with audits of production areas to ensure compliance with internal quality standards and customer requirements.

- Participate in root cause investigations and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) activities.

- Support implementation of continuous improvement projects related to scrap reduction, process capability, or product quality.


Manufacturing Collaboration

- Work alongside production teams to resolve basic quality issues.

- Learn how to identify defects in molded parts and understand common injection‑molding quality concerns.

- Communicate findings clearly to operators and supervisors when quality issues arise.


QUALIFICATIONS

Education

- Currently enrolled in a degree program in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field.

- Recent graduates may also be considered.


Skills & Abilities

- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes; exposure to plastics or injection molding is a plus.

- Ability to read and interpret basic engineering drawings.

- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office.

- Willingness to learn quality tools such as 5S, root cause analysis, SPC, and control plans.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

- Ability to perform inspections on the production floor, including standing for extended periods.

- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.

- Manual dexterity required for handling small molded components and measurement tools.
