About the role

The Electrical Technician Intern will work alongside the R&D team, under the supervision of the Electrical Team Lead, to support prototype activities and low-volume manufacturing. The intern will assist in the fabrication of wire harnesses and the assembly of electrical sub-assemblies based on technical drawings, schematics, and manufacturing instructions, while developing an understanding of system requirements. The primary focus of the role will be the manufacturing and soldering of wire harnesses for R&D medical devices and testing purposes. The intern will perform continuity and basic electrical tests in accordance with internal test protocols and will document results in build and test records or short technical reports.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Read and interpret electrical/electronic schematics and technical design drawings to support assembly activities.
• Build wire harnesses using wire cutters, crimping tools, and soldering equipment, in accordance with internal work instructions.
• Perform continuity testing on wire harnesses and complete basic electrical conformity reports.
• Participate in guided troubleshooting activities on defective wire harnesses or PCBAs.
• Other duties as required.

Required qualifications:

• Enrolled in the second year of a technical DEC program (Physical Engineering, Electronics, or related field)
• Detail-oriented and curious, with a strong interest in electronics and mechanics.
• Interested in prototype fabrication in an R&D environment.
• Comfortable using MS Office tools (Word, Excel, etc.).
• Resourceful and hands-on, familiar with fabrication and measurement tools.
• Exceptional communication skills, fluent in both written and spoken English. 

Preferred qualifications:

• Foundational understanding of electronic circuits acquired through coursework or laboratory projects.
• Interest in hands-on soldering (through-hole and basic surface-mount components).
• Familiarity with electrical testing concepts and basic measurement equipment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Organized, with an analytical mindset and attention to detail.
• Good communication skills and ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.
• Working proficiency in French.

Vos responsabilités comprendront :

• Lire et interpréter des schémas électriques/électroniques et des dessins techniques afin de soutenir les activités d’assemblage.
• Fabriquer des faisceaux de câbles à l’aide de coupe-fils, d’outils de sertissage et d’équipement de soudage, conformément aux instructions de travail internes.
• Effectuer des tests de continuité sur les faisceaux de câbles et remplir des rapports de conformité électrique de base.
• Participer à des activités de dépannage guidées sur des faisceaux de câbles ou des PCBAs défectueux.
• Effectuer toute autre tâche connexe, au besoin.

Qualifications requises :

• Être inscrit(e) en deuxième année d’un programme technique de DEC (génie physique, électronique ou domaine connexe).
• Être minutieux(se) et curieux(se), avec un fort intérêt pour l’électronique et la mécanique.
• Avoir un intérêt pour la fabrication de prototypes dans un environnement de R-D.
• Être à l’aise avec les outils de la suite MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.).
• Faire preuve de débrouillardise et d’habileté manuelle, avec une familiarité des outils de fabrication et de mesure.
• Excellentes compétences en communication, avec une maîtrise de l’anglais à l’oral et à l’écrit.

Qualifications souhaitées :

• Compréhension de base des circuits électroniques acquise par des cours ou des projets de laboratoire.
• Intérêt pour le soudage manuel (composants traversants et de base à montage en surface).
• Familiarité avec les concepts de tests électriques et l’équipement de mesure de base.
• Solides aptitudes en résolution de problèmes et capacité à travailler efficacement en équipe.
• Sens de l’organisation, esprit analytique et souci du détail.
• Bonnes compétences en communication et capacité à collaborer au sein d’une équipe multidisciplinaire.
• Maîtrise fonctionnelle du français.

Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. Compensation for hourly, non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
