Position: Roadway Design Project Manager (Atlanta, GA)

Job Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Roadway Design Project Manager to join our transportation team in Atlanta, Augusta, or Cartersville, Georgia. This role is responsible for managing roadway design projects while building and maintaining strong client relationships. The successful candidate will also lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers, technicians, and interns.

What you will be doing as a Roadway Design Project Manager - Atlanta, GA …
• Plan, design, and produce roadway engineering deliverables, including concept alignments, preliminary designs, final construction plans, and construction support documentation
• Apply GDOT design standards, roadway design criteria, and plan preparation procedures to ensure compliance with Federal, State (Georgia), and local requirements
• Perform cross-discipline coordination and design reviews to ensure technical accuracy and constructability
• Provide QA/QC reviews and quality assurance support in accordance with the company and GDOT standards
• Manage project tasks, schedules, and priorities to support on-time and on-budget project delivery
• Prepare and maintain project documentation in compliance with quality, conformity, and record-keeping standards
• Support project development activities from marketing and contract negotiation through design, bidding, construction, and project closeout
• Collaborate with internal teams, subconsultants, GDOT representatives, and local government agencies
• Coordinate production activities and assign work to appropriate technical staff
• Clearly communicate technical objectives, critical issues, and design solutions through written and verbal communication
• Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and task delegation to junior engineers and technical staff
• Uphold company project delivery standards, core values, and procedural requirements, including MicroStation standards
• Represent the company professionally with clients, regulatory agencies, prospective employees, and the communities served

Skills you ideally bring to the table as a Roadway Design Project Manager - Atlanta, GA …
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Georgia (required)
• 6–10 years of roadway engineering experience
• Strong knowledge of Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) guidelines, specifications, drawings, and organizational structure
• Familiarity with roadway design references such as the AASHTO “Green Book,” MUTCD, and other FHWA publications
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Experience with MicroStation design platforms, particularly OpenRoads (AutoCAD experience acceptable)
• Strong attention to detail with effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to prepare and maintain records, reports, documents, and correspondence
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
• Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel occasionally to outdoor project sites
