Your new role and environment.

 

The role  focuses on people management, technology leadership, and engineering excellence. You will be responsible for building, nurturing, and empowering high-functioning engineering teams while ensuring technical excellence and delivery.

 

The SAP FI Lead is a leadership role within technology with the dual focus: people and tech.

 

You will be primarily responsible for supporting the growth and development of a team while still remaining up to date technically and delivering against the product backlog.   

 

You will ensure technical excellence and delivery across its scope. This role combines people leadership, technical strategy, and execution oversight.

You will be accountable for:

  • Building and mentoring high-performing engineering teams.
  • Driving adherence to engineering standards and best practices.
  • Aligning technical delivery with product vision and business objectives.
  • Ensuring system reliability, scalability, and performance through robust architecture and operational excellence.

 

The role operates within its domain, collaborating closely with Product Managers, Architects, and cross-functional teams. The role is pivotal in: 

 

  • Managing complex technology landscapes.
  • Supporting agile delivery models and continuous improvement.
  • Acting as a bridge between technology execution and business priorities.

 

Key responsibilities of your role.

 

Technical focus

  • All team deliverables are aligned and implemented to the Tech Radar, OKRs, and Engineering Excellence Principles
  • Accountable as code owner and responsible for technical performance of said domain.
  • Majority of time is spent on enabling team members to build autonomously though limited time is spent on day-to-day coding.
  • Builds a team which welcomes technical discussions and challenges, ensuring the product or application is built fit for purpose.

 

Leadership & People management

  • Teams are fully empowered, autonomous and correctly “T” shaped   
  • Internal and external team members are held to the same standard
  • Ensure there is a healthy culture in the team and that team members can bring their full self to work
  • Play active role in facilitating growth, mentorship and learning for team members
  • Actively remove non-technical overhead for the team (unblock team)  • Manage vendor contracts and statements of work

 

Vision, strategy and alignment

  • Teams are aligned to the mission and vision of the Tech department and understand their role in the delivery
  • Balance technical and product roadmap goals and priorities for owned applications.
  • Translate the business value and/or risk from technical problems and decisions made.

 

General 

  • The team’s cost (RTA and capacity) remain in budget

Requirements.

 

  • 6+ years of SAP experience
  • 2+ year of hands-on experience leading a team
  • Experience mentoring tech talent
  • Know the desired growth pathways for engineers and how to help them progress
  • Great communication skills
  • Comfortable with presenting and public speaking
  • Clearly articulate vision and strategy for team to execute
  • Manage expectations both up and down the organization
  • Manage conflict
  • Experience working in an international company
  • Fluent in English
  • Good at managing budget   
  • Negotiation of products and services needed for the team
  • Agile mentality
