Overview

Adastra is seeking a Senior AWS Cloud Architect to lead the design and delivery of scalable, high‑quality cloud‑based analytics and BI solutions. This role plays a critical leadership position within a cross‑functional data team, partnering closely with Data Engineering, Data Science, and BI teammates to ensure strong data foundations and effective insights delivery. The successful candidate will combine deep technical expertise with a strong data quality mindset, stakeholder engagement skills, and a pragmatic approach to solution design to drive reliable, sustainable outcomes.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the architecture and implementation of AWSbased BI and analytics solutions
  • Design, build, and maintain enterprisegrade dashboards using AWS QuickSight or equivalent BI tools
  • Translate complex and ambiguous business requirements into clear BI and technical solutions
  • Partner with data and platform teams to ensure analyticsready datasets and strong upstream data quality
  • Develop and optimize complex SQL queries using Amazon Athena
  • Ensure high standards of data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across analytics solutions
  • Guide stakeholders toward effective, sustainable solutions through clear communication and technical leadership
  • Identify creative workarounds and solutions to platform limitations while balancing longterm maintainability
  • Own endtoend delivery with a strong focus on quality, testing, and execution under tight timelines
  • Manage priorities across multiple workstreams in a fastpaced and evolving environment

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Proven experience as a Cloud or BI Architect in an AWS environment
  • Strong handson experience with AWS QuickSight or equivalent BI tools, including advanced visualizations and security implementations
  • Demonstrated experience migrating or rebuilding dashboards from other BI platforms into QuickSight with full functional parity
  • Strong proficiency in Amazon Athena SQL with the ability to write and optimize complex queries
  • Solid experience using GitHub for version control, collaboration, and deployment
  • Deep understanding of data modeling and building clean, analyticsready datasets
  • Strong analytical skills to validate data accuracy, completeness, and reliability
  • Experience working with complex, messy datasets and resolving underlying data issues
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and business stakeholders
  • Ability to lead solution design while balancing complexity, sustainability, and delivery timelines
  • Strong ownership mindset with attention to detail and a high standard for quality

NICE TO HAVE

  • Experience working with Oracle or PostgreSQL
  • Familiarity with data architecture concepts such as lineage, data flows, and interoperability
  • Exposure to data governance, privacy, or regulatory considerations
  • Experience supporting or coordinating work across Data Engineering, Data Science, and BI teams
