Description

The International Senior Tax Manager is primarily responsible for managing the company’s international tax matters, including global tax planning and structuring, cross-border compliance and reporting, and international tax controversy support. This role partners with internal stakeholders and external advisors to address foreign income tax compliance and audits, foreign tax provisions, U.S. international information reporting (e.g., Forms 5471, 8858, 8865 and 1118), withholding and information reporting, and transfer pricing planning, documentation, and reporting.

 

As part of the HGV Corporate Tax Department, this position will closely interact with the Tax Reporting team and other tax functions to address cross-border tax reporting, compliance, planning, and controversy matters. The position will also routinely liaise with other functions within HGV (e.g., HR, accounting, operations, legal, treasury, and development) to support international business initiatives, intercompany transactions, and global expansions.



Responsibilities
  • Manage international tax compliance processes, including coordination of foreign income tax returns and related filings through external advisors

  • Manage international tax payment and cash tax forecast processes

  • Lead and review international tax provision calculations and related documentation, working with the Tax Reporting team and external advisors

  • Manage foreign tax audits and controversy matters, including coordinating information requests and preparing responses

  • Support international tax planning and cross-border structuring initiatives

  • Oversee foreign tax account reconciliations and support foreign tax analyses

  • Support international tax forecasting and modeling for cross-border transactions

  • Manage transfer pricing processes, including coordination of documentation and support for intercompany transactions

  • Work with the Tax Reporting team to analyze and review cross-border book-tax differences and other international tax items impacting the financial statements

  • Liaise with relevant stakeholders to analyze business initiatives and advise on international tax impacts and mitigation strategies, including withholding and permanent establishment considerations

  • Research and monitor international tax laws and treaties and communicate impacts to the business

  • Develop and manage direct reports

  • Oversee U.S. international information reporting and related data collection processes, including Forms 5471, 8858, 8865 and 1118

  •  Drive process efficiencies and controls across international tax workflows, including data standardization, documentation, and coordination with external advisors and internal stakeholders



Qualifications
   
  • Minimum eight (8) years of corporate or public accounting experience with emphasis on international tax matters

  • Working understanding of US GAAP rules

  • Solid understanding of international taxation concepts (e.g., cross-border structuring, transfer pricing, withholding, tax treaties, and foreign tax matters)

  • Computer proficiency, specifically with MS Excel and MS Word

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Independent and self-starter who is comfortable working in a fast-paced and intellectually stimulating environment

  • Ability to research, understand, and document complex and technical tax matters

  • Ability to initiate and manage collaborative efforts of multiple teams throughout the organization

  • Absolute discretion and confidentiality regarding sensitive information

  • Strong problem solving skills, and ability to identify and prevent potential problems

  • Ability to interpret the company's books and records and transactional accounting 

  • Ability to advocate and implement professional development for self and direct report(s)

  • Experience with PeopleSoft, Oracle ERP, and OneSource Income Tax Compliance is a plus

  • Experience with international reporting and compliance (e.g., Forms 5471, 8858, 8865, 1118 and/or foreign jurisdiction filings) preferred

  • Experience with the hospitality industry taxation is a plus
