JOB TITLE: One (1) Summer Intern

SUMMARY:

The Mayor’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is the City government's chief financial agency. OMB's staff of analysts and experts assembles and oversees the Mayor’s expense and capital budgets, which fund the services and activities of approximately 90 City agencies and entities.

The nonprofits unit designs and implements citywide funding initiatives in support of human services providers in NYC. Nonprofits provide a wide variety of City services to New Yorkers ranging from operating older adult centers to running shelters for unhoused families to hosting after school programming and beyond. Recent initiatives undertaken by the unit include the Workforce Enhancement Initiative (WEI), Indirect Cost Rate Initiative (ICR), and Human Services Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA).

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Organizational analysis of agency staff involved in contract processing, inventory of active human services contracts, policy research for the indirect cost rate (ICR) initiative, and other mini-analysis projects that may arise throughout the course of the internship term.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Qualitative and quantitative analysis design, core excel competencies including data cleaning and conditional (sumif, xlookup, etc.) functions, memo/brief drafting and presentation.

REQUIREMENTS:

A cover letter is required to be considered for this position. Applications submitted without a cover letter will not be considered.

Graduate interns must be currently enrolled or accepted into a graduate program. Candidates should have strong analytical, quantitative, research and communication skills. Additionally, candidates must be proficient in MS Word and Excel

To participate in the OMB Summer Internship Program, graduate students must be currently enrolled or accepted into a graduate program.

Compensation/Duration:

Summer Graduate Intern $20 per hour

Internships will run for 10 weeks, from June 1, 2026, to August 7, 2026. The work must be done during the regular workday, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. – no evenings or weekends.
