Job Summary
The primary responsibility of this position is to lead a team responsible for the design, procurement, installation, operation, and maintenance of Carhartt’s global network infrastructure. This role ensures the delivery and ongoing support of a best-in-class network environment, including local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), cloud networking, Wi-Fi, Internet and intranet services, as well as network security platforms such as firewalls and intrusion prevention systems.

Associate Responsibilities
Coach, mentor and develop a team of network engineers, security engineers and contracted resources.
Formulate, implement and drive best practices that optimize reliability and efficiency across all physical sites.
Lead the team through changes required to support company growth with focus on automation and improving operational efficiency.
Develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure efficient operation. Ensure training/development plans are created and managed for all direct reports.
Develop a proactive culture by implementing procedures, aligning resources, introducing efficiencies, and being data driven.
Design and improve new networking services, emphasizing cloud networking, as well as maintaining and growing the existing systems to enhance and optimize network operations to align with business needs.
Research and evaluate technological advancements to ensure that data networking solutions are continuously improved, supported and aligned with industry and company standards.
Manage all network-related services, hardware and software providers including the negotiation of new services and products, manage contracts, invoicing and assist with annual budgets.
Develop and generate conceptual, logical, and physical network architectures, resulting documents and drawings, testing analyses, test plans, and risk assessments to ensure sound architecture. Maintain detailed documentation of systems, application configurations, and user profiles.
Coordinate resolution of network-related incidents and communicate status to stakeholders.
Maintain and report on service level agreements and network performance metrics.
Perform level-3 trouble shooting and diagnostic service restoration on all components within the infrastructure, including but not limited to VPNs, circuits, switches, and wiring. Analyze problems and look for trends, always keeping management informed of problem areas.
Required Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IS, IT or another technical computing field, or equivalent work experience.
Required Skills & Experience
Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in a related field including the following:
Minimum of 2 years of experience leading network project teams (technical supervisor role preferred)
Experience with enterprise network design including WAN, LAN and cloud topologies, virtualization and related security concerns including DMZ and micro-segmentation as well as zero-trust concepts
Network troubleshooting experience which includes packet trace and Sniffer analysis as well as switch configuration analysis
Professional level of industry certification or higher, such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or Cisco Certified Design Professional (CCDP) preferred
Working knowledge and experience with TCP/IP networks from Layer 2 through Layer 7, from IP addressing and naming (DHCP, DNS, WINS, subnetting, VLAN) through security, along with related software tools for monitoring and management
Configuration and troubleshooting experience in a LAN/WAN environment with Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls supported by broadband, Ethernet, SD-WAN and MPLS network topologies
Working knowledge of Ethernet standards (10BaseT, 100BaseT, Gigabit Ethernet) and structure cabling standards (TIA/EIA, Cat5/6, patch panels)
Familiar with network quality of service concepts including class of service configuration
Understanding and familiarity with firewalls and firewall configuration; understanding and familiarity with IPS devices and policy implementation; and other advanced network security technologies
Experience determining methods and procedures to be implemented and used on the most complex new technologies to enhance performance
Experience with design, configuration, and support of reverse proxies
Security experience as it applies to compliance, protection of assets, and company security
Strong troubleshooting and technical diagnostic skills; Clearly isolates and defines problems, and takes steps to resolve them before they become larger and more critical; Makes quick, realistic, practical decisions in urgent situations
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to deliver presentations and convey technical and design strategies to different audiences
Strong people and communication skills with the ability to deal with stressful situations involving equipment and application failures in a composed and constructive manner
Ability to take direction from more than one person and handle a variety of tasks at one time
Dependable, accessible after hours in the event of a system failure, work as needed to maintain equipment in off-hours

This position has a Hybrid location: Associate will work on-site regularly as needed for work activities.
