The Internship Program is designed to empower, educate, and inspire the next generation of talent by providing meaningful hands‑on experience, professional development, and direct exposure to the real impact of our work. This is a 10-week structured program beginning on June 15, 2026, and ending August 21, 2026. This will be part-time (up to 29 hours/week). 

About the role: 

The AI Architect Intern will support the design and planning of scalable, secure, and production‑ready AI systems used across XiFin’s enterprise healthcare revenue cycle workflows. This role emphasizes system‑level thinking—working at the intersection of machine learning models, large language models (LLMs), agentic AI workflows, data pipelines, APIs, and cloud infrastructure.

Working alongside engineering and data teams, the intern will help translate business requirements into well‑structured AI architecture designs that are reliable, governed, and deployable at scale. Responsibilities may include assisting with system diagrams, integration patterns, data flow design, model lifecycle planning, and the evaluation of MLOps and LLMOps approaches for production environments.

This internship is ideal for students interested in how complex AI systems are architected—from initial design through deployment—and who want to develop the foundational skills needed to build safe, governed, enterprise‑grade AI solutions.

What does the position pay?

The hourly compensation for this role is $25.00 for graduate students. 

How you will make an impact: 

In this role, you’ll: 

• Assist in designing end‑to‑end AI system architectures (including ML, GenAI, and Agentic AI components). 
• Support workflow orchestration design for multi‑step AI processes. 
• Contribute to data flow diagrams, API specifications, and system integration plans. 
• Help define strategies for AI evaluation, monitoring, and guardrails. 
• Participate in cloud architecture design discussions (AWS or Azure). 
• Support containerization and deployment strategy planning for AI services. 
• Analyze trade‑offs between performance, scalability, security, and cost. 
• Document architecture decisions and present findings to technical stakeholders.

This is an onsite position at our office in San Diego, CA. 

What you will bring to the team:

A combination of the following education and experience factors will be considered: 

• Currently pursing a master’s degree in Computer Science, AI, Engineering, or related field 
• Strong understanding of software engineering principles
• Familiarity with machine learning and LLM fundamentals
• Basic knowledge of cloud computing concepts
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) preferred
• Exposure to microservices or distributed systems preferred
• Familiarity with APIs, Docker, or Kubernetes preferred
