Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to support welding quality and compliance activities for stainless steel piping projects. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in welding inspection, piping systems, code compliance, and quality documentation within industrial or fabrication environments.
This role will work closely with welders, engineers, supervisors, and project teams to ensure all welding activities meet applicable codes, specifications, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform visual and dimensional inspections before, during, and after welding
- Ensure compliance with AWS, ASME, API, ISO, and project specifications
- Review and verify:
- Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)
- Procedure Qualification Records (PQR)
- Welder Qualification Records
- Identify and document weld defects, non-conformances, and corrective actions
- Interpret welding symbols, engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications
- Monitor welding processes, consumables, and materials for quality compliance
- Prepare inspection reports and maintain accurate quality records
- Coordinate with welders, supervisors, engineers, and project teams to resolve quality concerns
- Support audits, client inspections, and regulatory requirements
- Promote safe welding and quality assurance practices on-site
Required Qualifications
- Active AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification — REQUIRED
- 2+ years of welding inspection experience
- Strong understanding of welding processes:
- SMAW
- GMAW
- FCAW
- GTAW/TIG
- SAW
- Experience with stainless steel piping inspection
- Knowledge of NDT methods:
- VT required
- PT / MT / UT / RT preferred
- Ability to read welding symbols and technical drawings
- Strong documentation and reporting skills
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical degree or welding-related certification
- Exposure to orbital welding
- Experience in industrial piping, fabrication, food processing, pharmaceutical, or process manufacturing environments
