Azure Cloud & Infrastructure Administrator
We’re looking for an experienced Cloud & Infrastructure Administrator to support a hybrid Azure and on-prem environment, with a strong focus on Azure, Microsoft 365, identity, and enterprise infrastructure operations.
Location & Work Arrangement:
• Hybrid role – 3 days per week onsite at our client’s Toronto office
• 2 days remote
Key Responsibilities Include:
Cloud (Azure / Microsoft 365) Administration
• Deploy, configure, monitor, and troubleshoot Azure VMs, storage, VNets, and PaaS/IaaS services
• Manage Azure AD, RBAC, Conditional Access, and identity governance
• Implement and maintain Azure security controls, policies, and compliance standards
• Support Microsoft Purview, including DLP and compliance reporting
• Manage Azure Backup, Site Recovery, and disaster recovery processes
• Monitor cloud performance, cost optimization, and resource utilization
• Automate administration using PowerShell, Azure CLI, ARM/Bicep templates
• Support Azure Data Lake environments, including permissions, structure, and governance
• Administer SQL Server (on-prem and Azure SQL), including performance tuning, backups, DR, and support for ETL/ELT and data warehousing activities
On-Premises Infrastructure Administration
• Manage Windows Server environments, Active Directory, and Group Policy
• Support VMware or equivalent virtualization platforms
• Maintain storage systems (e.g., NetApp)
• Perform system patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management
• Monitor and troubleshoot server, application, and network performance
Cross-Environment Responsibilities
• Ensure consistent security, compliance, and access controls across cloud and on-prem environments
• Support infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and modernization initiatives
• Provide Tier 2/3 escalation support
• Maintain documentation, diagrams, and change records
• Participate in scheduled maintenance and after-hours support as required
Qualifications
Required:
• Strong hands-on experience with Azure (VMs, networking, storage, Azure AD)
• Solid Windows/Linux server administration experience
• Experience with VMware or similar virtualization platforms
• Experience with enterprise backup and disaster recovery solutions
• Strong scripting skills (PowerShell and/or Bash)
• Strong troubleshooting and communication skills
Preferred:
• Microsoft AZ-104 certification (or equivalent)
• Experience with hybrid Active Directory environments
• Experience with Microsoft Purview and sensitivity labels
• Familiarity with enterprise networking (routing, switching, VPN, firewalls)
• Exposure to AI tools and their practical business/IT applications
• Additional certifications (VMware VCP, Security+, Network+, etc.) an asset
