WCLC is currently looking for a results driven Business Analyst to join our team. Reporting to the Manager, Business Analysts in Winnipeg Manitoba, the Business Analyst is responsible for the effective gathering and communication of stakeholder requirements to facilitate the development of a successful product/project.   

The successful candidate will work closely with project resources and stakeholders. You will elicit, analyze, specify, and validate the business needs of stakeholders, be they customers or end users. This includes interviewing stakeholders, gathering, and compiling user requirements to understand the technology solutions and business requirements needed. The Business Analyst will also apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help the business make good decisions 
 
This is a hybrid role, which will work both in our Winnipeg office and remotely from home. 
 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities 

  • Business requirements analysis — Identify, assess, and clarify business needs; define scope; translate user requirements into feasible solution options.
  • Requirements documentation — Document detailed requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and specifications using standard templates.
  • Process and workflow modeling — Create process maps, workflow diagrams, and requirements models using tools such as Visio or BPMN.
  • Data and systems analysis — Use Excel, SQL, or Power BI to analyze data, validate requirements, and support decision‑making; assess system usage and opportunities for improvement.
  • Backlog and project coordination — Support backlog management, requirement prioritization, timeline tracking, and coordination of deliverables.
  • Testing support — Participate in or coordinate testing and re‑testing of new or modified systems; validate that completed solutions meet documented requirements and track defects.
  • Cross‑functional collaboration — Work closely with stakeholders and cross‑departmental teams to understand business functions and ensure alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Agile participation — Participate in Scrum ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Reviews, and Retrospectives.
  • Requirements lifecycle management — Manage and track requirements throughout the project lifecycle; ensure completeness, consistency, feasibility, and adherence to standards; communicate changes and impacts to stakeholders.
  • Standards and process improvement — Collaborate with other Business Analysts to refine tools, methods, and best practices; support training, demos, and documentation for new processes.

 

Qualification and Competencies 


  • Business analysis expertise — Proven experience in requirements elicitation, analysis, modeling, verification, and methodology development.
  • Agile & Waterfall knowledge — Practical experience with Agile, Waterfall, and Scrum frameworks.
  • Cross‑departmental project experience — Ability to manage substantial projects involving multiple departments, external vendors, developers, and consultants.
  • Technical communication alignment — Able to ensure IT teams fully understand business requirements and translate them into actionable solutions.
  • Organizational & time management — Strong prioritization and multitasking skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Advanced communication skills — Excellent facilitation, listening, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Analytical & conceptual thinking — Strong analytical, conceptual, and strategic thinking abilities with attention to detail.
  • Creative problem solving — Ability to approach challenges with creativity, logic, and efficiency.
  • Professional experience — One to three years of related work experience in business analysis or a similar role.
  • Education & Certification — Degree or diploma in business, computer science, information systems, or related field, plus CBAP/PMI‑PBA (or similar BA certification).
