OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst with a strong background in Capital Markets and Collateral Management to support the delivery of large-scale business and operational initiatives. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional partners, including risk, operations, and technology teams, to define requirements, optimize processes, and ensure that solutions align with business objectives.
This role is ideal for a proactive, detail-oriented professional who excels in structured environments and is comfortable working with complex financial products, data, and regulatory frameworks within the financial services sector.
Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid – 1–2 days in office)
Contract Length: 12 Months (Extension Possible)
Hours: 9 AM–5 PM EST
Pay: T4: $42 / IC: $48
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Elicit, document, and validate business, functional, and technical requirements through stakeholder engagement and analysis.
- Translate business objectives into actionable deliverables for operations, risk, and technology teams.
- Conduct process mapping, data analysis, and gap assessments to support collateral management process optimization, including automation and digitization initiatives.
- Develop and maintain BRDs, process documentation, and operational workflows.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to support implementation and continuous improvement of collateral management processes.
- Support testing and validation of processes, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to SLAs and regulatory requirements.
- Identify, assess, and manage risks, dependencies, and change impacts across the project lifecycle.
- Prepare clear, concise documentation and reports for stakeholders, including findings, recommendations, and status updates.
- Maintain data integrity and ensure compliance with enterprise risk frameworks and regulatory standards.
- Support change management activities including stakeholder alignment, readiness assessments, and implementation tracking.
- Analyze operational issues, perform root cause analysis, and recommend solutions to enhance efficiency and reporting.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3–5 years of progressive business analysis experience, preferably within financial services or banking.
- Proven experience delivering initiatives in at least one of the following domains:
- Capital Markets: OTC derivatives, collateral management, REPO, or counterparty credit risk.
- Commercial Banking: Risk management, operational processes, or financial product workflows.
- Personal Banking: Not required but considered an asset if combined with capital markets exposure.
- Strong understanding of SDLC methodologies (Agile and/or Waterfall).
- Demonstrated ability to work with financial data, operational processes, and reporting tools to support analysis and validation.
- Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with workflow automation and reporting tools such as Power BI or Power Automate.
- Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
Preferred
- Experience in large enterprise or regulated financial institutions.
- Knowledge of collateral management processes including margin calls, safekeeping, and lifecycle events.
- Familiarity with automation and digital tools such as MS Power Automate, Power BI, or AI-enabled tools (e.g., Copilot).
- Understanding of regulatory, risk, and control frameworks within capital markets.
- Experience supporting process re-engineering and automation initiatives.
Education
- Post-secondary degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related discipline.
