Job Description:

Assists in performing Transthoracic Echocardiograms (TTE), Transesophageal Echocardiograms (TEE), Carotid Duplex, Upper and Lower Extremity Venous Doppler, Upper and Lower Extremity Arterial Duplex and Doppler, and Stress Echocardiograms. Positions and maneuvers patients for exams according to the type of exam to be performed. Completes appropriate documentation and charting for each study under the supervision of a staff sonographer. Assists with patient care needs during sonographic studies. Ensures ultrasound exam rooms are fully stocked at the end of each shift with necessities such as linen, gel, ECG leads, etc. Maintains a clean and organized work area at all times. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Basic understanding of normal cardiovascular anatomy and be familiar with department protocols for all required examinations. [Required]
• Demonstrate competency in performing diagnostic cardiovascular sonographic studies as described in IAC standards. [Required]
• Ability to multi-task and work well in a fast-paced environment. [Required]
• Ability to communicate respectfully with patients and all hospital staff. [Required]
• Proper cleaning and sanitization of ultrasound probes including transesophageal echo probes. [Required]
• Proficiency in using ultrasound equipment including Philips IE 33 OR Philips Epiq 7 OR Philips CX-50 [Required]
• Proficiency in using ultrasound equipment including Parks Flo-Lab OR LUCID TCD 2.0 [Preferred]
• Experience and interest in the cardiovascular specialties mentioned above. [Preferred]
• Proficiency in using TD-100 or ASTRA TEE disinfecting equipment. [Preferred]

Education:
• Associate's [Preferred]

Field of Study:
• Currently enrolled or graduate of an accredited cardiovascular sonography program

• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) [Preferred]
• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Preferred]
