Ascend Social & Newsletter Content Coordinator

Position Overview

Ascend by Ducks Unlimited is looking for a creative and organized contractor to serve as our Ascend Social & Newsletter Content Coordinator. This role is ideal for someone passionate about digital content, storytelling, and conservation who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. The contractor will work closely with the web, podcast, and leadership teams to produce engaging content that grows our brand presence and deepens our audience connection.

Primary Responsibilities

Social Media Management

  • Coordinate with the Web and Podcast teams on a weekly basis to gather content, highlights, and key messaging for use across social platforms.
  • Create, design, and schedule Reels, graphics, and posts across all active Ascend by Ducks Unlimited social media channels.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive social media content calendar, ensuring consistent posting cadence and alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Monitor platform analytics and engagement metrics to evaluate content performance and inform future strategy.
  • Generate and pitch creative ideas to grow our following, increase engagement, and expand brand reach across platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube.
  • Stay current on social media trends, platform algorithm changes, and best practices relevant to outdoor, conservation, and lifestyle audiences.
  • Engage with followers and respond to comments or messages as directed, fostering a positive and active online community.

Newsletter Coordination

  • Coordinate the gathering of content from internal stakeholders, contributors, and partners for the monthly Ascend newsletter.
  • Assist in writing, editing, and proofreading newsletter copy to ensure clear, compelling, and on-brand messaging.
  • Help manage the editorial calendar, tracking deadlines and ensuring timely delivery of all newsletter components.
  • Collaborate with the team on layout suggestions and content sequencing to create an engaging reader experience.
  • Maintain an organized archive of past newsletters and content assets for reference and repurposing.
  • Support any additional communications or email campaigns as needed.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Background in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Digital Media, or a related field.
  • Proficiency with major social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube) and a strong understanding of each platform’s content style.
  • Experience with graphic design tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite is preferred.
  • Strong written communication skills with an eye for storytelling and brand voice consistency.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
  • A passion for the outdoors, hunting, fishing, or conservation is a plus.
  • Familiarity with email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact) is a bonus.

What to Expect

The contractor will work directly with the Ascend team on real-world content production and digital communication for a respected brand in the outdoor and conservation space. This is a collaborative role with direct involvement in content strategy, audience growth, and brand storytelling. As a contractor, this individual will manage their own schedule while meeting agreed-upon deadlines and deliverables set by the team.
