Job Summary

The primary responsibility of the Junior Business Analyst (Jr BA) is to support business and technology initiatives by assisting with requirements gathering, documentation, process analysis, and coordination activities under the guidance of a Business Analyst or Development Manager. This role builds foundational analysis, communication, and systems‑thinking skills while contributing to delivery efficiency across projects and production support workstreams.

 

Essential Duties

  • Assists in gathering, clarifying, and documenting business requirements and user stories under the guidance of senior analysts or the Development Manager.
  • Supports the creation and maintenance of documentation including requirements, acceptance criteria, meeting notes, and basic process maps.
  • Helps analyze and document currentstate business processes, identifying gaps or inconsistencies and validating understanding with stakeholders.
  • Participates in agile activities such as backlog refinement, sprint planning, demos, and maintaining Jira tickets or story details.
  • Coordinates with business stakeholders and technology teams by tracking action items, followups, clarifications, and open questions.
  • Assists in testing activities to confirm that solutions meet documented requirements and business needs.
  • Develops foundational knowledge of business domains, enterprise systems, analysis tools, and delivery practices, incorporating feedback to improve quality.
  • Contributes to process and documentation improvements by identifying opportunities to streamline templates, standards, or intake workflows.
  • Promotes effective communication and collaboration across teams to support successful project and workstream outcomes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications, Skills, Abilities and Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 1 – 2 years of experience in business operations, IT support, analytics, or project coordination.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to document requirements, processes, and meeting outcomes clearly.
  • Basic analytical skills to identify gaps, inconsistencies, or missing information.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, followups, and deadlines in a fastpaced environment.
  • Exposure to enterprise systems or data environments (ERP, CRM, WMS, etc.).
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office and collaboration tools (Teams, email, shared documentation).
  • Good judgment in knowing when to work independently vs. when to request guidance.

Preferred

  • Coursework or certification in Business Analysis, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or Project Management.
  • Progress toward ECBA, CAPM, or similar certification.
  • Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, and projecttracking tools.

Regular interaction with business stakeholders, fellow analysts, developers, QA team members, and project staff to support documentation, analysis, and delivery activities. The role also includes routine communication with the Development Manager or assigned Business Analyst for guidance, prioritization, and feedback. Collaboration focuses on gathering information, validating understanding, tracking action items, and ensuring alignment between business needs and technology solutions, with occasional interaction with senior leadership through prepared materials and meeting support.
