Junior Laravel Developer
Connections Housing is looking for a Junior Developer to join our engineering team and help build the internal tools that power housing, travel, and event logistics for major conferences and citywide events. This is a great role for an early-career developer who wants to grow technically while working on real, widely used applications.
You’ll be contributing to backend and frontend functionality, improving existing systems, and collaborating with a supportive team of developers who value clarity, communication, and craftsmanship.
Responsibilities
• Develop, test, and maintain backend features using PHP and Laravel.
• Build and update UI interactions using Alpine.js and Blade templates.
• Integrate and consume REST APIs between internal systems.
• Work with MySQL to design, query, and optimize data structures.
• Write clean, maintainable code following established team standards.
• Participate in code reviews and collaborate with the engineering team.
• Troubleshoot bugs, diagnose issues, and support QA efforts.
• Use Git, GitHub, and Composer for version control and dependency management
• Document features, technical decisions, and application behavior clearly.

Pay: $58,000 - $63,000 per year

Required Skills & Experience
• 0–2 years of professional or practical experience in web development.
• Basic proficiency with Laravel, PHP, or another MVC framework.
• Foundational knowledge of JavaScript and frontend interaction patterns.
• Understanding of relational databases (MySQL preferred).
• Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively within a remote team.
• Willingness to ask questions, accept feedback, and learn new concepts.
• Ability to write organized, readable code and follow instructions.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working with Alpine.js, Blade templates, or Laravel’s frontend tooling.
• Solid understanding of PHP, Laravel conventions, and MVC architecture.
• Comfort working with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript in a Blade-based environment.
• Understanding of RESTful API design and integration patterns.
• Familiarity with Git/GitHub workflows in collaborative team settings.
• Experience performing debugging, manual testing, or basic performance troubleshooting.
• Experience working across multiple systems or applications, including API-based integrations.
