Job Responsibilities:

POSITION OVERVIEW

As a Packaging Engineering Intern The main responsibilities of this role will include optimizing the scope and scale of plant packaging materials, streamlining customer design specifications and materials, maintaining the portal, modernizing the plant packaging database, and investigating cost savings opportunities related to inbound and outbound supplier packaging.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Analyze current packaging materials used by plant and identify opportunities for improvement.

· Conduct research to find alternative packaging materials that are more cost-effective and environmentally friendly.

· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement packaging material optimization strategies.

· Review and analyze customer design specifications for packaging.

· Identify areas for improvement and efficiency in customer packaging requirements.

· Collaborate with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to streamline customer design specifications and materials.

· Ensure the packaging portal is up-to-date with the latest information and requirements.

· Regularly communicate with internal stakeholders to gather and update packaging specifications.

· Facilitate smooth communication between customers, suppliers, and the internal team through the packaging portal.

· Evaluate the current packaging database system used by plant .

· Identify areas for improvement and modernization.

· Implement necessary updates and improvements to enhance the efficiency of the packaging database.

· Collaborate with the procurement team to analyze current inbound and outbound supplier packaging.

· Identify cost-saving opportunities through vendor selection, negotiating contracts, or implementing alternative packaging solutions.

· Work closely with suppliers to implement cost-saving strategies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Experience in manufacturing preferred

· Package engineering experience preferred

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

· High School Diploma required

· Currently Attending a college or University, preferably pursuing a degree in packaging engineering

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS:

· Proficient Computer knowledge and skills, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

· Professional Communication skills (written and verbal)

· Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment

· Familiarity with packaging materials and design.

· Proficiency in data analysis and ability to interpret and present findings.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT:

· Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer.
