Job Description
Reporting to the Manager, Financial Reporting, this position is part of a high-performing fast paced team providing Financial services support for the Hospital, the Foundation and its management teams. You will work closely with the Hospital management to assist them in budgeting, forecasting and financial/statistical analyses, providing focused support and training on relevant financial issues. You will work with Finance management as well as other internal departments, such as Data & Analytics and Clinical Informatics in the maintenance and support of financial models and evaluation of assigned Business cases, or projects; assisting with the preparation of the annual operating budget; preparing monthly/quarterly packages; participate in process review and implementing internal controls. You will work with other team members in Finance to ensure financial integrity of the General Ledger reporting structures and the Budget/Forecast computer software. Other responsibilities include: ensure compliance with MIS/OHRS Guidelines, CICA Handbook and Government Regulations; participate in monthly/quarterly variance analysis and compliance reporting; participate in all applicable analysis to achieve accurate and timely monthly and annual financial reports; ensure all monthly account reconciliations are completed; participate in the implementation of software modeling to effectively conduct cost benefits studies and “what if” scenarios as required; and participate in other special projects and ad hoc analysis as assigned periodically.
Requirements
• Undergraduate degree (B.A., B. Comm., BBA, Business Administration or equivalent)
• Candidate must be an active CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) membership
• Five (5) years related progressive experience
• Experience in an accounting or auditing environment with exposure to financial statement preparation and analysis
• Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other MS products
• Excellent analytical, problem recognition and problem solving skills
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills – ability to interact with all levels of personnel
• Excellent decision making skills with the ability to form and defend independent judgments
• Excellent knowledge of MIS Standards, Ontario Healthcare Reporting System preferred
• Experience in healthcare environment, preferred
• Experience in Meditech HCIS and PowerBI, an asset
• Demonstrate creativity and problem solving capability with the ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure/stressful conditions and to meet tight deadlines
• Demonstrated ability to work as a team member
• Ability to take initiative and embrace challenges
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
