Principal DevOps Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal DevOps Engineer to join our team in Annapolis Junction, MD.

What You'll Do

As a Principal DevOps Engineer, you will lead the design, automation, deployment, and maintenance of scalable, secure, and highly available infrastructure supporting mission-critical applications.

Key responsibilities include:

• Design, deploy, and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes
• Lead DevOps initiatives across development, testing, staging, and production environments
• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and configuration management solutions using tools such as Ansible and Puppet
• Manage and optimize Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud-based environments
• Develop automation scripts and tools using Python, Ruby, Java, or similar languages
• Support software development teams through the full application lifecycle
• Architect scalable, resilient, and high-availability solutions
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and improve operational efficiency
• Serve as a technical leader within Agile development teams
• Collaborate across engineering, security, and operations teams to drive continuous improvement

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience)
• 10+ years of DevOps, Systems Engineering, or related experience
• Strong expertise with:
  • Git and version control best practices
  • Linux administration (RHEL, CentOS)
  • Docker and Kubernetes
  • Jenkins and/or Bamboo
  • AWS cloud environments
  • Infrastructure Automation (Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment strategies

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Python, Go, Java, Ruby, C++, or similar programming languages
• Experience with Software Defined Networking (SDN)
• Experience supporting Platform as a Service (PaaS) environments
• Elasticsearch (Kibana a plus)
• Redis, ActiveMQ, Memcache, or similar technologies

Security Clearance:

• Current/Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph.

The projected compensation range for this position is $200,000.00-$220,000.00. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location , education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories
