Position Overview:
We are seeking a hands-on SAP Developer to support and enhance MP Materials’ SAP S/4HANA Private Cloud landscape. This role operates within the SAP Center of Excellence and is responsible for delivering high-quality technical solutions across backend ABAP development and frontend SAP Fiori/UI5 applications.
The position focuses on full-stack SAP development, including ABAP programming, enhancements, reports, forms, OData services, CDS views, and Fiori/UI5 application development and extension. The developer will work closely with functional analysts and business stakeholders to translate requirements into well-designed, performant, and supportable technical solutions aligned with SAP best practices and clean core principles where applicable.
Responsibilities include custom development, user exits/BAdIs, API integration, data modeling, performance optimization, and lifecycle support across development, QA, and production environments. The role also participates in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and continuous system improvement efforts.
While direct experience with SAP Integration Suite (CPI/Cloud Integration) is not required, the developer will collaborate on interface design and integration troubleshooting across SAP and non-SAP systems.
This position offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to a growing SAP environment, working across multiple functional domains and technologies within MP Materials’ Enterprise Systems organization.
Position Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and enhance SAP S/4HANA solutions using ABAP, CDS views, OData services, and SAP Fiori/UI5 technologies
- Develop and support custom reports, enhancements, interfaces, forms, workflows, and APIs across multiple SAP functional domains
- Build and extend SAP Fiori applications using SAPUI5, including standard app extensions and custom applications
- Develop and maintain OData services using SAP Gateway and support frontend/backend integration scenarios
- Create and optimize CDS views to support analytical and transactional application requirements
- Implement enhancements using user exits, BAdIs, implicit/explicit enhancements, and other SAP extensibility frameworks
- Collaborate with functional analysts and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical design specifications and development objects
- Perform technical troubleshooting, debugging, performance tuning, and root cause analysis across development and production environments
- Support data integration and interface development between SAP and external systems, including APIs, IDocs, and web services
- Partner with integration resources on interface design and issue resolution; exposure to SAP Integration Suite (CPI/Cloud Integration) is beneficial but not required
- Participate in unit testing, integration testing, transport management, and deployment activities across the SAP landscape
- Contribute to development standards, documentation, and continuous improvement of the SAP technical environment
- Regular engagement with operations teams across Fort Worth and Mountain Pass is expected
- Occasional travel to MP sites required
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent practical experience
- 3+ years of hands-on SAP development experience in an S/4HANA or ECC environment
- Proven experience with ABAP development including reports, enhancements, interfaces, forms, user exits, and BAdIs
- Experience developing and supporting SAP Fiori/UI5 applications, including OData service consumption and frontend/backend integration
- Experience building and maintaining OData services and working with SAP Gateway
- Working knowledge of CDS views and modern SAP data modeling concepts
- Experience supporting SAP S/4HANA (Cloud, Private Edition or on-premise) environments
- Understanding of SAP integration concepts including APIs, IDocs, web services, and external system interfaces
- Familiarity with SAP Integration Suite (CPI/Cloud Integration) is beneficial but not required
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and debugging skills across frontend and backend components
- Ability to translate functional requirements into technical designs and deliver well-documented, maintainable solutions
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with functional teams and business stakeholders
Desired Skills
- Experience supporting SAP environments across multi-site manufacturing or industrial operations
- Familiarity with core SAP functional integrations including Production Planning (PP), Materials Management (MM), Sales & Distribution (SD), Plant Maintenance (PM), and Finance (FI/CO)
- Understanding of Production Planning processes such as MRP, production orders, capacity planning, and shop floor execution from a technical development perspective
- Experience developing or enhancing SAP Fiori applications, analytical apps, or embedded analytics using CDS views
- Exposure to modern SAP development paradigms such as RAP, clean core extensibility, or side-by-side extensions on SAP BTP
- Experience supporting integrations between SAP and external systems, including manufacturing, warehouse, or third-party applications
- Ability to mentor junior developers or contribute to development standards and technical best practices
- Interest in expanding technical ownership and contributing to broader enterprise systems initiatives
