Job Title: Senior Programmer Analyst II – Reinsurance (Python / Data Focus)
Onsite Position Location: League City, TX. (Marina One)
Who You Will Report to: Senior Staff Analyst
Travel Requirements: None expected beyond normal commuting
This position supports reinsurance and pension risk transfer (PRT) business by building and modernizing internal systems used for reinsurance data processing, reporting, and deal onboarding. You will partner closely with business stakeholders to translate requirements into reliable, maintainable applications—primarily leveraging Python and data platforms.
What You’ll Do
Develop and maintain Python-based solutions for reinsurance data processing, automation, and reporting
Build and support integrations across systems and data platforms to improve reinsurance data quality and availability
Partner with business representatives to understand requirements and translate them into system requirements and technical specifications
Write readable, reliable, and maintainable code; follow software fundamentals and best practices
Test code changes (unit/system), review results with business partners, and ensure changes do not negatively impact other functionality
Provide strong customer service to internal and external partners
Respond promptly to production issues and participate in the team’s on-call rotation for 24-hour system support (You will participate in an on-call rotation, estimated to be every 4th week, Monday–Sunday) to support the systems you help manage. This is not a call-center role; support is primarily handled through established processes (e.g., incident/escalation coordination) and may require after-hours response to resolve production issues)
Work occasional night/weekend hours to meet delivery timelines when needed
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
Professional application development work experience, demonstrated (not entry-level)
Hands-on development experience in Python and/or Java
Experience translating business requirements into technical specifications
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Insurance or financial services experience (life/annuities preferred; health, P&C, or banking considered)
Working knowledge of reinsurance business processes and data
Experience with Databricks
Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, SSIS, and/or Azure Cosmos DB
Familiarity with data pipelines, analytics platforms, or cloud-based data environments.
Python development with common libraries such as Pandas and NumPy (and similar)
Familiarity with job scheduling/orchestration tools (e.g., ZEKE/ZENA)
Comfort using AI coding assistants and reviewing/understanding AI-generated code
Azure cloud experience (e.g., Azure Functions) and/or containerization (Docker)
Exposure to AKS (including cron jobs) and Azure DevOps repositories/pipelines/releases
