Overview
The Senior Wholesale Energy Business Analyst plays a leadership, product-oriented role in expanding trading capabilities, strengthening risk management, and enhancing reporting across wholesale ETRM systems. This role requires a deep understanding of energy trading markets, risk management practices, and supporting technology platforms, with accountability for aligning business needs to scalable and effective solutions.
In this role, you will be involved with the following:
System Analysis and Support
Own the analysis and ongoing support of energy trading systems to ensure they meet complex and evolving business requirements
Oversee advanced troubleshooting and partner with technical teams to resolve system and data issues impacting trading and risk functions
Data Strategy and Management
Own system reference data management, ensuring strong data integrity, governance, and accuracy
Lead the design and execution of data migration and transformation initiatives to support business and system changes
Integration and Solution Delivery
Direct the development and enhancement of integrations between ETRM platforms and upstream and downstream systems.
Guide the delivery of system enhancements and upgrades, ensuring alignment with business priorities and long-term architecture
Stakeholder Collaboration and Documentation
Act as a key interface between business stakeholders and IT, driving clarity and alignment on requirements and solutions
Educate and guide stakeholders to refine needs into actionable and well-defined requirements
Ensure documentation across business processes, system configurations, and technical specifications is complete and maintained
Risk Management and Compliance
Design and support processes to monitor market activity and enable effective risk management practices.
Ensure systems and processes align with applicable energy trading regulations and compliance standards
To be successful in this role, you are likely to have the following skills/experience:
Education Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
Experience 10 or more years of experience in energy trading, risk management, and business analysis roles
Deep expertise in Energy Trading and Risk Management systems and related platforms, ideally across ERCOT, PJM, NYISO, and ISO NE markets Experience supporting Renewable Energy Credits and Power Purchase Agreements Experience working with or alongside QSE functions in ERCOT or market participant operations in PJM and NYISO
Business Domain Expertise
Ability to act as a primary point of contact for Traders, Risk Managers, and Schedulers, engaging at a detailed and strategic level
Strategic Mindset
Proven ability to partner with business and IT leadership to align near term initiatives with longer term technology and business strategy
Communication
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex ideas, requirements, and recommendations to senior stakeholders
